I may be shot down in flames here but anyway...

Is anyone else noticing similarities between The Feeling and the later crap, sorry, songs from the Manic Street Preachers

I don't know if its the vocals, but it sorta struck me mid-air on the plane this morning!

No, they're nothing like each other. Also, why the hatred for the later Manics stuff?

Well, you're wrong, it's not rubbish, I understand if it's not to your tastes though, how late are you talking? Post Holy Bible?

I'd say so, Lifeblood was 50/50 shall we say?

Lifeblood wasn't as good but everything else they've done has been class. Granted, up to Everything Must Go they were a different band, but they had to change. James Dean Bradfield is now obviously more interested in an MOR sound, and as they're older, being more angry would probably feel false.

I've got all of the Manics albums but I think I must have been in the minority who like Lifeblood as I know it wasn't received well. The feeling are just a disposable pop band who are bland.

Was Lifeblood their last album? There stuff after Holy Bible was more commercial, but still not bad. Everything Must Go was pretty decent.

The Feeling are nothing like The Manics.....The Feeling are tosh.

I've always hated the Manics, they were the most overrated band in the world.

They're not bringing out more records are they ? God, I hope not . . .

being half welsh, i suppose i've got to like the manics. I love motorcycle emptiness, its a classic. love to know where richie is.......... i wasn't too keen their stuff from the late 90s, well apart from 'you stole the sun from my heart.' My dad always liked 'if you tolerate this your children then your children will be next' but i never, i thought the title was too long.

I like the feeling too, their songs are well catchy. I think they're kind of 80s actually.

Those Spanish anti-fascists had rubbish slogans, innit.

The Feeling sound like 10cc to me. That's meant as a compliment.

I think Lifeblood is a fine album. I suspect there would be many who would prefer Lifeblood as an introduction to the band, as it is a far less challenging listen. Very few bands have one Holy Bible in them, it doesnt make the other work bad.

I'm a fan but Lifeblood didn't do an awful lot for me, just seemed to fizzle out after the first four tracks. The new single seems like something of a return to form though, probably the catchiest thing they've ever recorded. Oh and they sound nothing like the bloody Feeling!

They did a lot more than that mate, I think that The Holy Bible is one of the greatest albums ever made and it's certainly the most intelligent. A wonderful, wonderful vastly underrated band.

Yeah I know man, I've got a lot of respect for that band and I've checked out The Holy Bible Album I like some of the tracks on it, plus I know this might sound a bit nuts but I think that their lead singer that disappered is still around somewhere they reckon he was reading books and stuff on how to disappear.

I agree with Rocket, The Manics were the most overrated band in the history of music.
Thank god they've disappeared from our lives altogether . . . . .

New album out in may! and two solo albums in the past year, so not sure how they have disappeared from our lives

by the way, its was their "rhythm guitarist" who disappeared, james has always been the front man.

New album has some balls to it. i liked lifeblood, little sketchy in places but forever damned like all manics albums to be compared to the holy bible, instead of being rated in itself. Shame really, still a great band, who are much more adventurous than given credit for

Manics - 2 good songs on Gold Against the Soul, have hated them since then - pretentious, self-indulgent twaddle.

The Feeling - completely awesome - not pretending to be anything they're not, which is a fun pop/rock band reminescent of 10CC, Queen, Jellyfish, The Beatles, etc, but with enough of their own twist to make it their own. I went to see them last night, if anything, they are even better live. Dan Gillespie is the best frontman I have seen for years. They deserve every acolade they get. Great to see some fun back in music again.
