New film classifiaction symbols

When I went into Woolworth's earlier to buy the new Red Dwarf DVD, I noticed both that, and all the other new released this week carry updated ratings symbols (they can be seen on www.bbfc.co.uk ). Has anyone else seen these?

Yes I saw that,

Also when I went to the cinema the other day I noticed that the certificate screen is now different with the new BBFC logo.

How old was the old one?? Did it need to change?? Does this mean that my DVD ends will look odd now, some with old some with new?? Argh! this is awful, why weren't we consulted??

Eewwwww...they're disgusting! I don't know how they managed to change the logo so little and make them look so awful, but they have!!
what is the little kind of rectange within the white border about???

Huh?

On my red dwarf dvd it's still a circle not a rectangle (as you can see on the bbfc website.

Personally I don't see that there is much wrong with it and I don't think it'll look out of place with the old ones.

Well 12A is only a cinema classification, it equivalent is 12 on video. Uc has always been there but you rarely see it and R18 again has always been there and I think that it's right that it should be.

So since they introduced the 12 classification in the early nineties there has only been on new rating and that's 12A

Not really. I know which classifications you are referring to, so I'll explain it:
Uc- this has been around for as long as I;ve known and it appears on videos aimed at really young children I.E. Tweenies or Telletubies

12A- this rating appeared last year, but is for cinemas only. It repalces the 12 rations, the classification is the same, but it menas under 12s can watch a 12 film if accompanied by an adult

R18- Again, this has been around for a long time, but is restricted to "specialist" videos in "specialist" shops
