Can anyone advise me on this problem. Just bought a Samsung LE26R7 LCD tv. Got my Sky + plugged into it, but when text comes up on screen (logos or credits on programmes) it seems to block a little as well as some ghosting. Would this be improved if I changed over my scarts for some gold plated ones or is this normal. I just expected better quality picture than I'm getting at the moment. Any help or advice would be appreciated thanks.

"better scarts" (especially ones that make a big song and dance about being gold plated) are often a waste of money!

Have you got your SKY+ set to output RGB, and the scart connected to an RGB-compatible socket on your TV (AV-1 prob)?

I think what you are seeing is a called a halo effect, which seems to be a feature of the video processing/upscaling used by the Samsung. I get this on both the 26" and 32" Samsungs when using the Scart-RGB input but not on Component or HDMI with a 576p source.

I don't think replacing the Scart cable will have much effect but to prove it I will try and do a swap this weekend with a QED flat Scart cable I use elsewhere.

Well I tried a ribbon scart cable between the Pace Twin and the Samsung 32" LCD TV and saw a definite improvement in picture quality. It still wasn't quite as good as the picture from the TV's built in digital tuner but was close. I put the original scart cable back to prove it wasn't my imagination and low and behold the picture quality went back to how it was before.

The cable I used was a IXOS XHT611 0.75m, I thought I had a QED P2110 1.0m ribbon scart handy as well but it must be packed away with some of my other kit. They are both well under £30 to buy.

Just to let everybody know there is a repeat of the Update for the R7 LCD from 29/01/07 to 01/02/07 for the new firmware 1.015.

I'm so happy as i'm going to receive the TV tomorrow.
