K800I faulty?

Not sure if it is or not. Just got it via replacement from O2 insurance last week. The sound was going fine i.e. could hear everything through games and ringtones but now I can't. Have to do a master reset to get my sound back but can hear everything fine through my headphones. The profile is set to general and the default tone is the sony ericsson one. Nornally if somebody calls I should be able to hear that but........can't or get a text message it should make sound but nothing.

P.S. Forgot to say this first happened saturday and for some weird reason has happened again last night.

Do you mean the earpeice or the speaker..I presume the speaker. Either way it sounds(sorry) like there is a problem, just make sure its not been put on silent by accident(holding down the # key).

Think you may need to make another call to O2.

Gee thanks I think it is the speaker. I can plug in the earphones and can hear sound out of them no problem but speaker only seems to work for a bit then........vavoom. Happened saturday as I said and done a master reset and started working again but last night sound's went yet again. Don't want to have to master reset all the time as I've done that once and lost stuff already. The letter did say if there was a problem within 14 days get in touch so hopefully I won't be penalised for reporting it. Bit of a bugger this.

Try updating the phones firmware via the Sony Ericsson Update Serivce on the Sony Ericsson website. It might just kick the phone into touch

Done that Jac. Said I had the latest firmware installed. Think in other words I'm right snookered. Phone still works but no sound whatsoever although can hear something from the phone when I call somebody (done a test via my little sister and heard her)

And um...............this might seem bizzare but as the battery's went down a little bit the sound's came back. Weird! Should I still phone O2 in the morning? I'm really not sure now if the phone's faulty or what? I didn't do anything different to it just recieved another txt and my tone (good bad and ugly) made the sound. Strange.

Yes contact O2. It should never have happened in the first place. I'd get it replaced right away, after the 28 day period they send phones away and they can take weeks, and with sod's law, you can guarantee your phone's fault will come back on day 29

They should replace it no problems. Just tell them what's happened with it and that you're very unhappy that you are not able to enjoy your phone.

Quick question, is anyone's camera cover very loose on the k800? Mine is, it was one of the first 02 one's sent out when the phone was released. I'm thinking of using my insurance to replace it...

I have a K750i and the slider on mine is loose too. It's annoying, but I think it's just classed as wear and tear with constant opening and closing.

Had mine on O2 since their release and the camera cover is not loose. Its used nealy every day too so it is not as if its not built to last. I would get it replaced while it is only 6months old.

What a carry on that was when calling! Got put through to customer service.......then got told to phone repairs.........then got told to phone insurance and back to customer service before a nice irish lass called jennie (sucker for accents) got me sorted. I to send it back to them Monday Morning via a jiffy bag and special number and so on but I'm on the right track at last. Either gonna get repaired or replaced as it's under warranty and I won't be charged no more (well I shouldn't have been anyway as I reported it before 14 days) Sound packed in again last night so I thought today do it.
