I have about £500 to spend on a w/s television which must be flatscreen and 50hz (not 100hz). I would prefer 3 scart sockets, but two would suffice as long as a least one is RGB compatable.
What would you suggest?

I have a Matsui (Currys' own brand) and I must say it ain't a bad telly at all. I believe Matsuis are made by Philips anyway. Had it for two years without a problem (Touch wood!)

You should be able to get a Panasonic, JVC or Philips which should do the job... there isn't one best model, everyone has their own opinion as to what's best and to some extent it's a very much personal choice...

Personally I'd avoid the budget Matsui types seeing as you've a £500 budget. No offence to Matsui but some of these models are made by reasonable manufacturers (often it's a Tatung rebadge or sometimes Thomson or other OEM manufacturers)... but each model varies so much and often they're not identical to a Tatung or Thomson branded model, so one model of Matusi can be a quite good model and the next can suck somewhat. Dixons specify certain (cost cutting) features and as a result I've seen many of these Matsui (and other similar) with poorer pictures, probably due to using lower spec picture tubes etc...

As I said, no offence meant to Matsui owners, they do offer good value for money but they are cheaper for a good reason....

If you go for JVC, you should be able to get an AV-28T25 for under £500. The Prologic version, which also has a subwoofer, the AV-28R25, is just over £500. Both include stands.

Argos have a 28" LG flatscreen one reduced to just over £500 at the moment I am thinking of getting that one.
