Hi guys. I have a small problem.

The other night I had a browser message appear on my phone, some lesbian porn link & never having one before I clicked the link out of interest to see what it was.

At the time after clicking the link I only had a pound credit & topped up a few hours later, deleting the browser message which never loaded up. Before topping up I had ''call balance empty, please top up' messages appear several times pop up on my phone (not a text). I didn't think nothing of it.

The next morning I woke up to find 6 pounds had been taken from my balance. I had 4 text messages sent from a 8000 number (cant quite remember) saying I had basically payed, I didnt keep the texts and the number on my phone unfortunately.

I haven't topped up since & last night the message appeared several times again on my phone saying 'call balance empty, please top up'

Any help on what to do? I'm worried about putting any more money on incase it get's eaten up.

I'm on 02 PAYG

Much help appreciated.

Regards

Matt

Normally you can reply to them type of things with the word 'Stop' and that should stop them. But I'm not with O2 anymore so maybe I'm wrong.

Yes, you need to reply with STOP. An alternative would be to use the O2 'Lend Me A Quid' service which will give you £1 of calltime. Quickly text STOP to the offending number. You'll have to pay the borrowed £1 back next time you top up.

I think you activate your £1 by calling the top-up line on 4444.

Thanks for the replies. When I top up next I will try the above if I have more money taken from my account.

Keep you posted.

If you should not have been charged then complain to O2 and ICSTS and get your money refunded!

That is what ICSTS is there for.

If STOP doesn't work try STOP ALL.

from what in remember from my time with vodafone, O2 may not refund any of the charges, they will advise the user to contact icstis and file a complaint against the company concerned. O2 however, should be able to track down where the messages came from and log them onto notes. If they have access to the information I did, they should also be able to give the user the relevant information to stop the messages being sent.

The only concern is, is that if there isnt credit on the sim, these messages could be backing up on the 'server' and once credit is available - they will come through, eating the credit as they do, due to them being classed as a reverse charged message (taking the credit once they have hit the phones inbox). One way to combat this is the ask O2 to put a text message block on the sim (incoming) and get the message sent to cancel them (typing stop etc).

If this isnt convienient, the only other thing you could do to avoid these is to buy a new sim card with new number.

Doubt the operator will do a refund as the OP willingly clicked on the link that started the ball rolling.

No shame in wanting to have a look at a lesbian porn link 'just out of interest' of course
