What a fantastic episode!
I was so choked.
Even my BF said 'If he doesn't leave soon I'm gonna start crying soon' - this was when Mark was talking to Pauline, and they were both in tears.

And YEAH it had the piano intro into the final credits, and he deserved it too.

I'm glad he eventually told Pauline what was the problem but....

Why the hell didn't Pauline guess? This has been bugging me for weeks. OK I don't have a son who is HIV positive, but if I did, in the event of him acting strangely at all or doing something out of character I would automatically think the worse. But even if I didn't, had the son decided to go off travelling, I would have been worried sick about whether he had enough medication or how would he keep getting check ups while abroad.

I'm afraid the whole storyline left me cold. I thought it was full of plot holes so couldn't really get into it.

And when he said goodbye to Lou (I did cry a bit then mind you) you would have thought he would have picked her up and given her a cuddle.

He gave her a kiss!

And I have to agree, Pauline should have known that something was wrong, for crying out loud Dereck even worked it out! Cus if you remember Mark said to him "You know what's wrong."

And one other thing don't ya think Pauline was been too over protective? I mean if your son wanted to go travelling you'd be ok with it right??

I totally agree. Every other time Mark has ever had so much as a snuffle or a dicky tummy, she's convinced he's going to die. So now, when he goes all melancholy and staring into space and saying things like "I have to - one day you'll understand", she's all huffy and me, me, me.

It was getting a bit much and it was time the character left, I think. He could only be SuperMark for so long. The actual event of leaving and the immediate lead up was done really well, though.
