Dmr-hs2 How Do I Get It To Recognize The Freeview Channels
MIKE COOKSON
19-01-2007
I am trying to get a panasonic DMR-HS2 recorder to recognize the freeview channels on a goodmans freeview box. It sees BBC1 ect up to channel 5, but no more.

Can some kind person point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance

Presumably your Freeview box is connected to the DMR HS2 by a scart lead into either AV1 or AV2. You need to use input select button on dvd remote control to select either AV1 or AV2, whichever one it is connected to. The input select button is in the "hidden" part of the remote control. I suspect it will probably be AV2.

Your dvd recorder is only recognising the analogue signals from its own tuner, as Jinky says you have to have the recorder connected to the digibox by scart through the in/out scart, select this connection then tune to the channel you want to see/record on your freeview box, you can set up recordings using the ext link facility providing your goodmans has a record library.
The machine obviously does not have a freeview tuner therefore it can't recognise freeview channels on it's own.

Many thanks Jinky / DMP,
I can now record any prog as long as it is the channel that I am viewing. by selecting A2 as the source on my Panasonic recorder.
I am dead chuffed to find that it records straight to a DVD if DVD is selected, and give a good copy.

I would like to be able to set it to record using 'Video-plus' codes,
but when I enter a video plus code for one of the freeview channels ( say MORE FOUR) and press enter, I am presented with the 'Timer Recording' screen where times and date are correct, but, in the 'Channel / Name ' box I can only choose from BBC1,2,ITV1,Chan 4, Chann 5 , AV1,AV2,AV3 and AV4. None are correct.

Any Suggestions would be appreciated.
Sorry I am not a Techie.
Thanks

Select AV2 or A2. Then set your Freeview box to More 4.

If you wish to record one than one Freeview channel set the Freeview boxes timer (if it has one) and input the Videoplus codes for all the programmes and select AV2 or A2 as the source.

See this thread relates to the E85 but should be similar.

Or if the Freeview box has a timer forget Videoplus and use the timer to trigger External Link on the Panasonic but that's another story.

If you set the record menu, don't forget to allow a couple of minutes to allow the panasonic to wake up.
If you read the manual about ext link recording it is very easy to use, but you must remember to set the link button on the unit.
