DXR3 EMPEG DVD ADD-ON CARD
Hitmon

Does anyone know if I need a Creative brand PCDVD player to use the DXR3 EMPEG DVD ADD-ON CARD, or can I use another brand of player if I buy the card seperately?
And also does anybody recommend this card?

I don't think it matters what dvd drive you have, I think this is quiet a good card for its price but I would suggest you to get a software player if you have got the processor speed, I say this because I have found the quality is slightly better on a software player.

The DXR3 is excellent for putting DVD out to TV. If you can find one try and get an original DXR2 as these can be made multiregion and macrovision free a lot easier that the DXR3.

The DXR3 will also allow you to watch a DVD (on TV or screen) without interfering with processor operations. I can watch DVDs whilst burning CD's, or browsing online without any jitters.

Should have added - beware of your motherboard and OS.

The creative cards have problems with the 810 Intel chipset boards and they are not fond of Win2k, although can be made to work with some tweaking.
