Can anyone tell me where I can find out if and when Vodafone will be improving coverage in my area (scarborough). The coverage is pritty good but there are still some dodgy areas even in the town centre if you are inside a house. Is there a web site run by Vodafone that informs of new transmitter sites and the date they will be up and running?

The best idea would be to email them. Got to Vodafone and go to contact us. No doubt you will get platitudes about how they are always improving coverage. Of course if they do plan to put up a new mast in your area no doubt you will get people complaining about it and how they cause cancer. Most of the people complaining will undoubtably have a mobile phone and will probably smoke as well.

The alternative would be to go to a network with better coverage.

Yes I was thinking of going to Orange, getting a sim only deal and porting my number across but my dam phone is sim locked to Vodafone or at least I think it is I tried my Mum's Orange sim in and it came up insert correct sim. Is there anyway I can unlock this sim lock or do I have to pay Vodafone a load of £'s to get an un-lock code? I have a Motorola T191 currently locked to Vodafone pay as you go.

Vodafone will unlock it for you not sure how much they charge these days. Typically networks charge about £15 - £20. Best thing to do is ask them. You can get places on the net or some shops may unlock it for you. Typically £10 - £15.

Working for a large company, we often get most of the mobile operators touting for business. Over the last couple of years we have had evaluation phones from all of the main operators who want us to switch to them. On my travels, mainly around England, I have found that Orange (who we currently use) provide the best countrywide coverage.

My phone was unlocked and is open to all networks, I am currently with Vodaphone, but quite often the aerial must do a wobbly and quite often are without a signal for a day at a time till they fix it. I therefore am thinking of getting an Orange sim. Can you just swop these back and forwards, or once you have changed sim, do you lose all your address book phone numbers etc?

On most phones you can store your contacts on the phone. If you store them on the sim cards you will have to duplicate your contacts on both cards. You can swap the sim cards as much as you like.

You can get dual sim adapters for some phones, no messing, just switch the phone off and on to switch between sims.

What, even in the huge holes in their network? (Like anywhere north of here.)
