I own a JVC 28" Flat Tube Widscreen with Dolby Pro Logic, 2 scarts sockets. I bought it last year and looked around all the eletrical retailers asking for what type of Widescreen would be best for my budget. I looked at the Sony Widescreen's and have to be honest unless you are willing to pay £1500 - £2000+ then most of the Sony look cheap and nasty. Now the Panasonics in my opinion are the best make in the world you can really go for in television and in Audio as well. But i did not have enough money to go and buy a panasonic so i asked this one guy in Currys what he thought i should buy? he said to be honest apart from a Panasonic i would really only buy a JVC. So i bought it for £700 quid and paid a couple of hundred quid on top of that to have a JVC NICAM stereo chucked in with the deal. To be honest i am very suprised at you Digital lovers to have not mentioned a good quality brand such as JVC, but there you go, now you can add this to your list of top quality Tv brands because its up there with the best of the best. BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you mad?!?!?! NEVER ask the opinion of anyone who works in Curry's/Dixon's/Comet! They know nothing!

I'm not saying your telly is crap, but I'd be suprised if the salesman wasn't getting more commission on that set than some of the others...

Re: Panasonic are the best, I would agree picture wise but has for sound, don't bother with the all singing pg50's has they seem to have a fault and produce a high pitch whistle in all simulated surround modes. I have had 3 of these sets now all showing this prob, so I've now decided the best option is a Panasonic pg30 which has all the same specs except its only nicam. Hence no sound problems (I hope) and I can add my own Dolby dig amp. I only hope the picture is has great has the pg50.

Has anyone else experianced these sound problem with the Panasonic PG50 range?

There's no mention of this fault on Panasonics technical pages, so I think it's something they don't yet know about, or it's considered acceptable.

I have found that many Dolby TVs are never that great, often they have background hiss or noise. A seperate Dolby amp is the far superior option. Plus you can get bigger speakers and add more components as time goes by.
