Reading through the threads about Tracy Barlow and David Platt it seems that people are really quick to condemn the storylines as ludicrous, yet reading the spoilers about it it seems quite good. Do people who criticise storylines on here not read the spoilers and see how the stories develop, or is it the same old argument of how people just don't like Corrie and want to discredit it?

No matter how much people do hate it, let's remember that it is the most watched programme in the country, so if it was that unbelievable ("Get Den Watts, he'll know what to do") people would be switching off as they have done with other soaps in the past.

I don't like anything in EE at the moment but I don't slag it off without seeing how things unfold and how they come about.

If something that people read sounds ludicrous then people will say so. They could be proved wrong when it's shown on screen of course because you don't always get the full story with the spoilers and you can't say how it's going to come across on screen but until then they have every right to condemn it if they feel it sounds ridic'. That's how I see it - I can't imagine anybody would condemn a soap simply for the sake of it.

Regarding the Tracy/David spoilers they do sound ludicrous. I'm prepared to be proved wrong by how it comes across on screen but I fail to see how they're going to play this one without it having massive plot holes. But then all soaps have never bothered about realism when it comes to police matters so it's not just Corrie. I think I can let the lack of realism go here as the whole storyline has been absurd from start to finish and full of holes so it doesn't really matter. My main concern about David's involvement in the storyline isn't even about how unrealistic or ludicrous it is going to be but more the fact that it's just bad taste when you think of what he's going to do and some of the scenes we've heard about that are coming up. I can swallow unrealistic plots as all soaps have them but I struggle when something is simply bad taste. I had the same problem with all that Framie nonsense a few weeks back. It wasn't the fact that it was unrealistic and OTT (I enjoyed Mad Maya and Richard Hillman) more the fact that it was just bad taste.

For my part, I love corrie, or did do, so it's not a case of trying to discredit it, I think the show is doing that itself. Not sure about other people, but for me it's borne out of disappointment that it appears our favourite soap is going down the pan, amidst stupidly planned stories that are completely unbelievable.

I think it was the same with the EastEnders storyline - Jake killing Danny.

When everyone read it, it seemed quite farfetched, which it was in a way! But it was acted out very well I think...
