memory card

i have a memory card for my nikon coolpix 2200 camera.
i took thr stick into boots, and inserted it into the different slots, hoping to get some printed photos.
nothing happened, and now my card saids write procted,
and i cannot take any photos. can anyone help.........

Is it an SD card? If so, check that the little switch on the side isn't in the wrong position.

thanks for that , bought it. just sloted it to the camera. and never noticed that little switch, it has corrected the problem, what is it for....????????

The switch, as you discovered, write protects the card. It prevents any new image files being stored on the card or any existing images being deleted from the card.

By the way it is not a good idea to just randomly poke your memory card into the various slots on a card reader. Different types of card use different connection formats and there is a real possibility that you could zap the card if you manage to feed the wrong voltages up the wrong pins on the card!
