Islandman, NDJess, Any comments re tonights performances. Reading the boards, they all say the boys were dreadful, but Equoia? was good. Is this worse than last year, because I'm sure that both Kelly and Tamyra had shone by this stage. Your views would be appreciated.

Hey! My impressions from the night:

The only person I was very impressed with was Vanessa. She is just a cool girl. Very cute and funny and a voice to boot. I voted for her from 8 to 8:30PM ... then I had somewhere to go. So I hope she makes it!

Kimberly Kelsey: I liked her and the song she chose. I was just as surprised as Paula to hear a pop voice come out of her mouth. Her voice sounds very "crisp" to me ... if that makes any sense.

Jordan Segundo: He's a cutie, but he was just boring.

Vaness Olivarez: She is so bubbly.

Rickey Smith: He does a good job, but he's just too weird for me. All that Hercules stuff ...

Samantha Cohen: Okay job, but I didn't like the song. She has a strange personality, too. Hideous outfit.

Equoia: All this one name stuff is very pretentious. She does a good job but I hated the song.

Louis Gazzara & George Trice: I actually can't remember who sang what! One of them sang Unchained Melody and totally ruined it, in my opinion. I think George was doing some weird thing with his legs. Nothing special if I can't even remember them!

I think I might have used too many smilies in this post. Good night!

I almost forgot ... I don't know if this is worse than last year because this time last year I wasn't watching yet. I started watching when it was down to the final seven ... before that it came on at the same time as The Mole on ABC. Night.

I managed to stay away from the results this week Enjoyed the show a lot more because I wasn't writing off the people who didn't get through before I heard them.....

Equoia was ROBBED !! She was amazing, can't understand how she didn't make it....

And I thought Louis was a lot better than the judges made out!

Vanessa's got a good personality glad to see her through

Well I was wanting Vanessa and Kimberley to go through tonight - 1 out of 2 ain't bad. I agree Ben that Vanessa will go far. She's got a great attitude - she's having fun, taking comments on board but not taking them too seriously and best of all she doesn't take herself seriously unlike most of the others on the show.

Didn't rate Equoia (too much passion) or Rickey (too squeaky).

Pretty much agree with you Ben. I still think they're all pretty blah-no-one has made me go WOW yet.
Glad to see they've lopped off 10minutes from the show, that's 10 minutes we dont have to suffer adverts and previews.

Question for the Americans. Last year, the hosts were universally panned, but I think Ryan Seacrest is OK (not a patch on our hosts, but that would be difficult as they're just brilliant). Is this because they've dumped Dunkleman, or has Ryan improved?
Oh and that clip of the Kelly/Justin movie looked mawkishly awful

I didn't like Justin and Kelly's duet, it seemed to have very little power. I liked Vanessa, was she the person that replaced Frenchie? I'm sure that she was in the 3rd heat. I think that the wildcard show is such a good idea, I hope they do that on UK pop idol2 and I'm definately going to watch it.

"Equoia was ROBBED "

Yeah, but who cares, she was a self righteous thing, and you could barely see her eyes.

Some of the people on this show have just made me ill. Maybe 2 or 3 out of the 50 that were at this stage in our Pop Idol were as arrogant as most of the people on this show. I wouldn't mind so much if they actually had a personality. That Vanessa girl was the first one I've actually managed to find likeable.

I'm sure the amount of people who think they're everything before they've done anything will go up for our second series, but surely it could never be as bad as this.

Some of the song choices have been awful as well. They've got 90 seconds (or however long its) to impress, and they choose songs with bland, forgettable melodies. And the warbling some of the women, and the men actually, do... Ugh.

I understand it's a different culture really, but even so... Not one person has a voice that actually makes you look up and pay attention like Will's. Some good singers, but nothing that distinctive.

And that duet was awful. I thought Kelly was quite attractive when I saw her last year, but she's lost something.

***biting my tongue***

lol.

This group wasn't as exciting as the last...but I looooooove Vanessa. She is so funny, and I liked her in the early audtion rounds too. I think she's got a great voice too.

As for Ricky...I don't think he's very good. He sings like someone who was just hit in the....ok..you get my point. lol. And the "hercules, hercules" thing was funny the first time, but it has gotten old. He goes into his Momma Klump voice everytime he does well. ugh.

I like Ryan Seacrest as the host...especially last week when he got squashed by Ruben and his brother. lol! I like how him and Simon always joke back and forth too.

Dunklemen quit after last year, he chose not to come back, I don't really know why tho....

I think we will see someone shine in the final 10 rounds...i just don't know who yet.

I liked the duet, too. Well, the video was cheesy, but I liked the song.

I like Ryan, too. I found him enjoyable last year. It was Dunkleman that brought the whole thing down, IMO.

Glad Vanessa is through to the next round ... not too happy about Rickey. That Klumps voice is annoying.
