Remember that the babies who played Bethany when she was a baby, were just that, babies, and either one or both or them were probably boys also, so it would have been hard to keep them on as Bethany. And remember now that Bethany is played by twins now.

Also Robert in Emmerdale was played by 2 people.

Flynn in Home and Away is about to go on holiday and come back with a new face.

Pippa in Home and Away was plyed by that many people I lost count lol.

Sarah Platt has been played by at least 2 differnt people, so was Nick.

Scot in neighbours was played by 2 people.

Can't think of anymore offhand.

Lucy in Neighbours was played by Kylie Finker,Sasha Close and Melissa Bell.

Cheryl Stark was played by 2 different actors as well.

And wasn't it so blindingly obvious that Robert was played by another guy??!! When 'he' arrived back to the farm and Jack said something like "oh, you're back then", I though "Er, hello? Do we know this person?!" lol!

You forgot one: Selina from Home and Away was played by some stand in 'lookalike' for about a week once in Home & Away. That was about 6 years ago! (I think!)

Surely the best replacement of characters was done in the fabulous Sunset Beach? I'll never forget when they froze halfway through the show on a blond girl standing at the top of some stairs while a disembodied voice announced that 'the part of caitlin richards would now be played by this new actress'. And then the frame unfroze and she came waltzing down the stairs as if nothing had happened! Oh I loved that show!!

Didn't Jim Robinson's wife (neighbours) go from Brunette to redhead as well?

And don't forget there were 2 Pippa Fletchers in Home & Away. Also there were 2 different Rebecca Fishers (Donalds daughter)....

Well when you get a character with lots of backstory and development, and the actor playing them decides they don't want to do it any more, or are unable to (cough Daniella Westbrooke cough), rather than let all that material go to waste the bosses would rather recast, and keep the character available. Go ahead I say.
When they are children, they do nothing, so they just have child actors who do not need to act. Then when they get to the age where they could become proper characters, the bosses need to do something. You can't ignore them, because people will notice the loss. You can't easily get rid of them, the only way to really do this is either for the entire family to up and leave, or have an offscreen parent who the child moves to (likes Steven did when he went to Australia). Really the only logical action after these options is to recast the actor and let the character stay.

Scott Windsor in Emmerdale was played by someone else before...replaced by a (surprise surprise) better looking actor.

Actually, I think Donna Windsor was replaced as well...again, by a better looking actress. It's ALWAYS the case though when a teenager is replaced by another actor, they always end up better looking

When Bethany was a baby, she was played by twin GIRLS - Emily and Amy Walton, in fact.

They use different / older twins to play her now, but i don't reckon they have been swapped and changed. They chose the older child / children and have stuck with the same ones.

Great decisions in choosing new people to play Nick and sarah Lou - the others were just a pain in the a*se!
In Emmerdale, Scott and Donna HAVE both been replaced by better looking people too (LOL). For the better i think.
Preferred the original Robert though!

Oh yes, and the character of Sarah (Sugden) was played by two actresses as well.

Remember Mitch in Home & Away, he was replaced for a few episodes with a new actor, I think the 1st one had an accident of some kind, then later returned, and left again

I remember the time Irene in Home and Away died her hair from Blonde to Red! That was some time ago!!

The actress who played Rebecca Fisher had breast cancer and had to have time off. The other actress stood in for a few weeks while she received treatment.
Did you know, the stand-in didn't get any more work after that and she ended up getting hooked on drugs and died of an overdose a couple of years later.

Then there were 3 Rebecca Fishers! One brunette, who was in it for a fleeting moment. The gorgeous Belinda Emmett (the one who beat the big C) and her stand in!

Yes, that's right the brunette was the original. She was rather plain, and as you said, only in it briefly. Then Rebecca returned in the form of the beautiful Belinda Emmett! Quite a transformation she underwent at the music academy, eh!!!

even home and away has gone down hill but is bearable.

why cant they have storylines that are never boring like sons and daughters young dr's etc.


in both aussie and british soaps they have all gone down the same road killed off the cast that make it what it is and get in young talentless actors/tresses.

I am quite shocked about that Shauna thing...its almost like she is a completely different actress...I agree what a difference long hair makes!
