I have less than perfect hearing inherited from my Dad's side of the family. So when my TV Sound got rubbish about 2 years ago I put it down to that. I just lived with it.

The sound out of my TV is distorted and feedbacky (don't know the technical term) and takes a lot of concentration to listen.

However, when I go to other peoples houses, I can hear just fine.

My mum has the same exact TV as me. So when I spent Xmas with her this year I started to wonder if it was my ears or the TV? I could hear the sound from her's perfect.

Got a few neighbours in to listen, they all agreed it is the TV.

I can hear the TV in my bedroom just fine.

So what I want is an amplifier and a couple of speakers to take over the audio from the TV. I don't need another dvd player, have gone through lots!!! All in perfect working order!!! but the sound has always been the sticking point.

I don't need anything fancy. Just an amp and 2 speakers that I can bypass the TV with. Don't want to spend more than £100.

Can anyone help?

Just had a look at Richer Sounds. They have a stereo amp and plenty of speakers that should fit the bill nicely.

Eltax Stereo Amp

Take your pick from the choice of speakers. The Eltax Mini (£29-95) or the Gale 3010 would be a good choice and keep you in budget.

Speakers

You will of course have to make sure you have 'audio outputs' on the TV. A quick look round the back of the TV will confirm this, if you are not sure the manual should have this information.

In addition to the amp and speakers you will need a pair of phono cables to connect the TV > amp, speaker cable and speaker stands, unless you are wall mounting them or have a home for them already.
