Tonight my LG 26LC2R appears to have died, it works fine for upto an hour or so then either goes to a load of lines on screen |||||| (like that) or, like the picture below, and flickering all over?

It does it on analogue as well as Sky and whatever else is showing.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the fault may be? it's under guarantee but i'd like to have an idea as to what part may be at fault so i can find out how long a repair will take.

Thanks.

I'm no TV Engineer but it looks like the Video Engine in the LCD is kaput.
- fault is common to all inputs
- actual LCD display is still working
- PSU is ok

I'll go along with that!

Looks like incorrectly clocked data to the column drivers, so either the column driver mux chip on the panel is dodgy or has a poor connection (could be - as it fails over time) so it needs a new panel, or an oscillator on the internal video board is going out of tolerance with heat (as it fails over time) so it needs a new internal video driver board or it's just sha***d (technical term).

Either way if it is in warranty then it needs to go back, if not then getting parts might be fun!

Cheers,

I'm a Sony authorised LCD/Plasma engineer, and faults tend to be VERY expensive - with most faults actually being the display panel itself.

Repairs are difficult, because unless you're authorised you can't usually get parts or information - as suggested, if it's under guarantee give them a ring, if not? - start saving up!. Presumably LG, like most manufacturers, will have authorised service agents who do the service - these will come out and collect the set, costs are usually £95 upwards for the callout, depending where you live.

It's under guarantee, that's not the problem.

Just wondered what exactly the problem was.

It was on nearly 2hrs this morning without fail, and it's been on 45mins now, without fail.

Still, got an engineer coming Friday to have a look.
