Looking for a Home HiFi with these Specs - Please Help...
My existing Aiwa NSX-DP55 stereo's display is beginning to fail after nearly 10 years of use. I am looking to replace it with an equivalent. The new HiFi must have similar specs and features to that of my current Aiwa. It must have...
* A Visual Graphic Equaliser Display (with the bars showing the loudness of each band). * RDS - preferably with Radio Text (RT). * Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound (Or the connections on the back for my existing speakers to plug in to). All the HiFi's (Mini or Theatre), that i've seen have some of the above but miss others. Can anyone help. Thanks. Last edited by the_radio_kid : 24-01-2007 at 14:36. |

Why do you need a "Visual Graphic Equaliser Display (with the bars showing the loudness of each band)"? A good hi-fi, with good cables & speakers would never include such a thing. |

I think they stopped making "Visual Graphic Equaliser Displays" in the 80s along with hi-fi's that have a billion buttons.
Also, with a Dolby 5.1 system, chances are you'd be watching the TV, not the Hi-Fi, so I doubt manufacturers would see it as an advantage (it would be distracting). Are you opposed to seperates? You get alot more flexibility that way and its worth it (you could probably buy a seperate graphics equaliser that way if you really wanted to). |

Try a Sony AV amp, they have an RDS tuner but not sure about text. They are very good and great value.
But please forget the graphic equaliser, - less is more. PS- also bin your shell suit and get that curly perm cut out !!! Best thing about the 80's ? - Dec 31st 1989

Might be worth looking in Richer Sounds; there is one in Cambridge.

Re: Home Hi-Fi
Hi
Can I just ask, has your exisitng Hi-Fi, got a socket on the back, for an outdoor FM Aerial to be plugged in?. I just ask, as I have bought Hi-Fi's[from catalogue firms] that have turned up, and have just a bit of cable, coming out of the back. This does not provide, good reception, I really really prefir, a Hi-Fi, that you can plug an outdoor Aerial into. |
