I have just bought this DVD recorder and I am not getting a good Sky image when I pass through the recorder...

I output the TV out from Sky+ into the decoder scart on the back of the DVD recorder and then into the TV. With the recorder on the pic is fine, however, turn it off and it goes back to what looks like a PAL image. The instructions say it should work fine - but it is obviously not... anyone got any experience of this?

You will find that like the VHS machines, the DVD recorder needs to be on standby.

Since posting this I got in touch with Tech Support at LG - this does not pass through an RGB signal in standby - only when it is on. Have since discovered a solution. Ta

I have a tree hugging g/f so even standby is frowned at.

I am going to get a scart splitter and split the RGB signal from the Sky+ box between the TV, DVD recorder and the wireless sender and see what happens.

So, if you buy a powered splitter..........what will the hugger say then? Explain the true cost of the manufacture of the device youre going to buy....you know, if we all bought one instead of just leaving the DVDR on standby etc, etc.

Might be easier to swap the girlfriend than swapping the DVD recorder?? Then you can start enjoying steak and chips again while watching the footie on Sky.

I am buying a very basic 3 into 1 (or 1 into 3 in my case ) unpowered splitter. I am expecting some interference - but for £5.99 off Play I might as well give it a stab. Beats unplugging all the time.

Hi fletchem: I just picked this old thread up. How did you fare with your idea? I've a later LG with the same limitation.

on the back of the sky box you have two scarts

so put av2 to dvd recorder

the picture quality will be good enough for recording

must be cheaper to buy a scart lead?

My solution was very lo tech. I got bored @rsing around at the back of the unit - so I just took the video feed out of the Sky box. I know it is not RGB - but in all honesty I am not all that concerned.

However, since this little issue, I have gone from a 24in CRT TV to a 40in 1080p LCD and image quality is now a biiiiig issue, so I may revert back to the RGB output and leave the DVD on...

Sky and I are currently having "constructive discussions" on why it is not offering me HD for £149... a visit to ebay is on the cards when the Sky+ sub disapears...
