Full HD 1080p Blu Ray players now on sale in Spain

I was very surprised to see a Samsung full HD 1080p Blu Ray player on sale in our local El Corte Ingles store last week for €1200.

It was rigged up to a full HD plasma, and needless to say was absolutely awesome.

There was also a Sony Blu Ray player connected up in the same way. The Sony had a prominent sticker on it which said 'This player is not compatible with non US region coded discs and s on loan from Sony Corporation. Not available for sale.'

Are they available in the UK yet?

There are apparently no plans yet for any HD broadcasts within Spain, although they have been selling HD sets for as long as in the UK.

Have Sony and its Blu Ray allies stolen a march on their rivals?

There's a Samsung Blu Ray in my local costco for £700. This is slightly the wrong forum though!

My PS3 is happy outputting 1080p for Blu-ray films. Sadly my projector (Z3) is a couple of years old and doesn't handle it, although I beleive the Z5 does even if it only resamples it back to 720p.
