Podcasts are whatever the producer wants them to be. In terms of commercial radio or anything using music, you'll often find that the music is edited out since they don't have the appropriate rights for the medium.

I just click on Radio, Itunes goes and finds a list of genres.
Choose a genre and it opens up a list of stations.

Don't think you can download though, I think it's just streaming.

Audio Hijack for OS X allows you to record any audio source to a myriad of formats. Excellent software.

I listen mostly to podcasts these days, being far more entertaining than anything on the radio.

I listen to the daily source code with Adam Curry, this week in tech hosted by American technology broadcaster Leo Lapporte and BBC radio 4's 'the now show' when it's available (usually after it has been broadcast on a friday night - when the series is running).

If you have itunes it's simply a matter of going to the store and clicking on the 'podcast' section, there's loads to choose from, although you don't need itunes necessarily, you can find other podcast aggregators, most podcasters have their own web page that you can go to and download the podcast without ever using itunes.

A good example is www . twit . tv, there you can download all the podcasts from Leo Lapportes twit network, although he calls podcasts 'netcasts' in reaction to apple taking legal action against some websites using the word 'pod' in their url, or as part of their product or service..

Maybe it's worth starting a new thread, like List your favourite podcasts?

Russell Brand is a fanny of the highest order. The most unfunny "comedian" since Lenny Henry.

Podcasts are specifically designed to be downloaded, so they can be used on your MP3 player later. That's the whole point of them.

You can use Juice, free software available under the GPL licence, to download podcasts to your PC. There are other podcast download tools, including itunes.

Personally, I use Juice which downloads the files to a directory of my choosing, then synchronise the downloaded files onto my ZEN Ultra.
