DMREZ25 query from Newbie
Wiltshire Tony

I was seriously considering buying the above until I read the instruction manual and in particular the section on recording from Sky Digibox. The manual seems to imply that it can not control the digibox but by a long winded work around you can get it to work.
Am I getting this all wrong. Perhaps a current owner of a "25" could help?
Thanks

What do you mean control the digibox? Isnt the Z25 a digital DVDR so can come to life using its own tuner/EPG?

A much better attribute is for the digibox to be able to control the DVDR so that when a non digital DVDR is required to record a digital program, the digibox sends a signal to wake up the DVDR.

Have I understood your problem correctly?

errr probably but then I am not sure I understood your answer, lol.
Ok let me try to make myself clearer, please bear with me.
The DVD recorder has a digital tuner through which I will receive Freeview channels but nothing else.
My SKY channels come to my telly via a digibox.
Now, how do I get my DVD recorder to record a SKY channel? and is this an easy thing to do? My reading of the manual (pages 17-24) made it sound hellish complicated.
I plan to connect the DVD recorder to my telly using a HMDI cable. I guess my digibox connects to the DVD recorder via scart.
Hope this sounds clearer.

Yes, connect your sky box to the dvd recorder's via scart and then select A2 on the dvd. It will record what ever channel you have on the sky box.

Ensure you connect from the Sky TV scart (the bottom one) as this carries an RGB signal. Also set your DVDR AV2 socket to accept RGB. This will ensure the highest quality recordings.

In fact, you can set up the DVDR to react to a signal called auto view. This will automatically turn the box onto the correct channel using the Sky program guide. You can also set the DVDR to react to this signal from Sky and wake itself up for a recording, turning itself off at the end of the recording. This is a little more complicated to set up.......but is only options within the 2 boxes.

You should've gone for Sky+, much easier.......
