as series 3 has been really good up to now and the best yet, its putting the other uk soaps to shame! I watch it on e4 a week ahead of channel 4 and i can tell you next weeks ch4 showing is the best episode yet having seen it on e4 this week and the episode after that looks brill in a supermarket shoot out!

i don't think it should be a daily soap tho, just a weekly one!

I thought it was on every week anyway! Channel 4 are always showing adverts for the "new series" of desperate housewives. They seem to come round very quickly!

Desperate Housewives on television is marred by that stupid commercial break that always seems to appear a few minutes after the opening titles.

Desperate is a 'look forward to' type show because it is only 25 eps per year, I don't really want that to change and the quality to go down. I also doubt the actors would want to do that!

I agree.
It's the same thing that happens with Lost.....you wait through 83 years of adverts for the programme to start, then you get the previously sequence, then a little taster, then the opening titles, followed by another 2 centuries of adverts.

Once the ads have finally ended, if ur still actually awake, you are bombarded with credits right the way through until the next set of ads come on.

Channel 4 should be re-named Ad Break 4. I much prefer watching these shows on dvd. I'm not a fan of ad breaks (not that you would have noticed )

I couldn't agree more. You can certainly have too much of a good thing. In my opinion, the frequency of our own soaps is too high & the quality has deteriorated as a result.

I never used to miss Emmerdale, but I wouldn't give it house room anymore!

Desperate Housewives is excellent, but it is on frequently enough.

I'm absolutely loving DH this season, easily the best thing on TV.

Apparently, I read somewhere alot of Amercian shows do it this way, in the US, there was a reason but I can't remember it now

And no I don't think DH should be on continuously, it would get too boring after a while and be filled with boring stoylines.

I say it should stay as it is. Having to produce over twice as many episodes a year would put too much pressure on the writers and actors and the quality would inevitably go down. This way we're left always wanting more!

I doubt the writers could manage it.

Marc Cherry, who created the show and wrote the first seaason, pretty well had a nervous breakdown at the end due to the immense pressure and hard work.

So he didn't have much involvement with S2, hence it wasn't very good.

He's back for S3 though, which shows.

I'd rather less episodes, but high quality.

I wouldn't mind a few more episodes but I think that every night would be pointless. you' never get the actors to agree anyway. you's have to pay them way too much.

It sort of already is... It is weekly.

It shouldnt be on continuously though.. it would get boring. It should stay as it is.

Seen up to Episode 13 of Season 3 and it gets really good and is no doubt the best season yet.

The show would price itself off the air before long.US stars get huge rises every year.Dallas and Knots Landing were down to only a couple of original characters by the end because of money.

Since I live in the US, I don't really know much about how UK shows are ran but our shows are very expensive and since we have a lot, the money needed to keep the shows going is really high. So, to get enough money, we rely on sponsors (as i'm sure UK shows do too) and the sponsors want ad time during the show, which is why i'm a little surprised that Eastenders has practically no commercials at all!

I'm not a commercial fine at all but the episodes are only 42 minutes long and they need something to fill up the hour which is why there are many breaks. There's 6 commercial breaks during Desperate Housewives and pretty much any primetime show we have.

I can't see this as a daily/weekly show, it would end up watered down and storylines would be dragged out the way they are in current shows.

I love it the way it is!!!!
