Poor Shelly..... there she is unaware that Peter has proposed to Lucy, or that Peter is about to become a dad, she is still blissfully planning her wedding...... WELL....... TRAUMA coming up for Shelly big time...... Shelly gets word her sister is very ill, and in fact she subsequently dies...... and on the day of her funeral, Peter accompanies Shelly to the funeral in the morning, and MARRIES Lucy in the afternoon !!!!!!!!!!!! How's that for the perfect description of a BAD DAY for Shelly. Should be a good bit of drama there.

never liked peter - how come someone who was brought up from an early age in scotland returns to weatherfield 20 years later without so much as a trace of a scottish accent! he may have been in the navy for a few years travelling the world with boyzone but i seem to recall from his reappearance in the street as an adult he sported quite a northern accent.

Ee 'oop, there's nowt as queer as soap folk, as they say in Glasgow.

What are the odds on Shelly being comforted by Ciaran?

Ohhh Moneymaker..... what a great dilemma....... two babies on the way.......but its sort of overegging the cake really..... the street will be awash with babies then. Still..... it should make for some good drama and runny mascara for a while..... racoon time here we come Hee Hee.

No, I think that's a great idea. There's only one other babbbby in the street at the moment (Joshua, in case you hadn't guessed) - oh no, I forgot about Ben. OK so 2 babies, then. There's no saying how long Lucy is going to be in it - she's just a peripheral character so she could be written out at any time.

Mind you, i noticed that they have changed from using a real location for her flat to a studio set so perhaps that implies that she'll be around for a while yet!

I can never quite get to grips with how old Shelley is. She always looks to me like she's in her thirties - but maybe that's the clothes she wears and because she's overweight. How old do you think?

I think comments like this say far more about you than the actress playing Shelley. People come in all shapes and sizes and have differing tastes in fashion (OK, I know that what she wears will be decidd on by wardrobe). Surely it's wrong to judge people by their weight!

Just as yours tell me you are sensitive about your weight ...

I wasn't judging her just by her weight - I was saying that in my opinion the whole package gave the impression of a character who looks older than she's supposed to be.

It's animals who go round sniffing each other's bums and deciding what they think of each other - human beings DO judge each other by appearance. It may not be fair, but that's the way it goes.

You really do jump to unfounded conclusions, don't you!

I wasn't judging her just by her weight

Don't be ridiculous! Of course you were. And if you weren't, why go on to defend doing it in your next sentence...

human beings DO judge each other by appearance. It may not be fair, but that's the way it goes.

Speak for yourself. Personaly I try not to judge people anyway but in general, my opinion of them is based on their behaviour and their ideas. Thankfully, most of the people I know do the same.

Okay Stuart 62, if you really WANT to be tedious ...

I wasn't judging her just by her weight

No - if you read it properly instead of just jumping on the weight thing I said that I thought she looked older than I would have thought her character was supposed to be but perhaps it was her clothes and her weight. Not just her weight. The way she dressed and her weight. Why did you just pick up on the weight thing?

human beings DO judge each other by appearance. It may not be fair, but that's the way it goes.

Speak for yourself. Personaly I try not to judge people anyway but in general, my opinion of them is based on their behaviour and their ideas. Thankfully, most of the people I know do the same.

That's crap, quite frankly. You may do it subconsciously, but you judge whether somebody is male or female, whether they are young or old, whether they are likely to be fertile (size of hips, narrowness of waist etc), whether they are sexually aroused, whether they are likely to accept your advances, whether they are good breeding stock, whether they are bigger or smaller than you. We're animals. We get over it quickly once we get to know someone, but we DO make those first impressions of people based on their appearance. That's why people dress up for interviews, that's why women wear high heels and make up.

You're right - this is becoming highly tedious. It's unfortunate that most of the threads you contribute to end up as an "I'm right, you're wrong!" type of argument that a petulant teenager wouldn't stoop to.

So instead, I shall return to the topic of the discussion (which is really why we're here in the first place) and say that Peter's a rat (ie the character, not the actor playing him) and he deserves all that's coming to him - hopefully. With a bit of luck, Shelley will smack him in the face and come out with some comment of the calibre of Gail's "Norman Bates with a briefcase!"

Did any of you see Today with Des & Mel today? well Shelly (I forget her real name) was on that, and she was saying she didn't think she would get the part because she thought they wanted someone who looked more glamourous.

BTW have any of you seen the advert she is in? The one with the lockets, where the girl has a cold and she spent the night with someone from the office, and they try to figure out who it is? i dont like that advert, the way Shelly sniggers at the end, she looks silly. Though she was good in The Royale Family.

Speaking of corrie and adverts, do any of you remember karen McDonald in the Malteasers ad? The one with the 2 girls in the car going round the roundabout, that one keeps appearing now and then.

Oh I forgot also on Des n Mel, they showed a clip of Shelly, Sunita and Dreary going into the bridal shop heres how the conversation went (cant remember exact words, but its something like this) :

Shelly: I'll know the dress when I see it.
Shop Assistant: What about your Mother?? (refering to Dreary)Dreary: Im not her Mother!!!!!
Sunita: Yeah, and I'm her twin sister!!!

*Laughter from Shelly & Sunita, Dirty looks from Dreary*

LOL it's funnier to watch it.
A classic!
