I want to change my calls to Talk Talk but they said we have change our line rental from BT Talk Talk to get free evening/weekend calls etc.

We are worried that if we do that and we have problems with our phone line in the future that Talk Talk could charge a lot for engineers to look at fault. Whereas BT is a bigger company and will fix problem at low or no cost.

Any ideas or experience of Talk Talk engineer/faults service

Don't do it, you'll regret it (see HERE).

Only by keeping your line rental with BT will you be able to use CPS (Carrier PreSelect) providers and the likes of 1899, 18185 etc. to get cheap calls.

If you want free evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls, Primus Saver Option 2 CPS or, if you have a Sky TV subscription, Sky Talk Freetime CPS is the way to get them for no monthly fee whatsoever and without having to move your line rental.

IMHO, the Primus package is better value because it gives 90 minute calls (redial to avoid charges) instead of Sky's 60 and does not, of course, depend on you maintaining a Sky TV subscription.

But I wonder how long it'll be before they catch up with you.

The reason for resellers not working is talk talk now use LLU. There should be no issue regarding talk talk on WLR.

So I guess it depends entierly if your exchange is unbundled as to weather or not you can use reseller prefix codes.

If you read the link in the previous post, the person states that dialing codes worked ok until some sort of "upgrade". I bet your bottom dollar the upgrade was the move from BT Wholsale to LLU.

Some TT wlr customers have had access to the likes of 18185 barred already.
Also TT charge for caller display where as Bt offer it virtually free. (Subject to a few calls being placed over their network).
