OK, this forum is about music, so many may argue that a thread about McFly shouldn't be here.....

But did anyone hear them on the Edith Bowman show on Radio 1 yesterday afternoon? My God how bloody thick are they?

For those of you who don't know, all this week Edith Bowman has surprised a lucky listener and done her show from a school, complete with star guest(s). Yesterday it was McFly.

They had a toe curling bit where the kids could ask the band questions. The band are so bloody dense they could barely string two words together to form an even vaguely witty answer to anything they were asked!

One girl asked if they prefer blondes or brunettes. The answer came back, "I dunno. A bit of both." Bloody fantastic answer, well done McFly. Even Edith Bowman seemed to be getting frustrated with them.

It was truely car crash radio.

How does that make them thick? Did they not just mean that he likes blonde and brunette girls?

Just because it's McFly people are very quick to jump on them. Had it been some muppet like Bono or Paul McCartney it'd no doubt be hillarious.

They usually come across fairly well and amiable (except one of them who seems a bit quiet)

I'd say off-day.

I simply used that as one example of what they were like. There were others - in fact every question asked was met with combinations of "errrrr" and "dunno" and "yeah".

Seriously, why do bands/groups put themselves up for this sort of thing when they clearly haven't got the talent to cope with it properly?

The Arctic Monkeys, for example, are notoriously shy and hate interviews. So they don't do them. Simple really.

At least if it was one of them, they'd have given vaguely intelligent answers to the questions asked.

One of McFly was asked the naughtiest thing they've ever done. The answer: "Errrr......ummmm.......I....er......got drunk at a party."

Move over Albert Einstein.

The person who secured McFly for this item should be sacked.

Ahh bless. I think Mcfly are very ezsy to knock. They are pop and seen as a boyband when in actual fact i think they are alot more than that. They are my guilty pleasure. Their albums are rather enjoyable and they are harmless. Ok not cool like the ultra cool Arctic Monkeys who slate harmless bands like TT to look even cooler. Boring  Whats cool anyway? Its music snobbery.

Not once have I slated their music (apart from a small joke about them not being included in a music thread - which was just that, a joke).

I was just making the point that the whole item was completely and utterly dire, due to their apparent lack of intelligence. Why put yourself up for something if you can't do it? It's like asking a claustrophobic to go caving with you.

What makes you think they're not that smart? Maybe they were in the wrong position at the time and place and didn't really want to say something realy rude and stupid that would make the headmaster take a second look at them. Maybe it was their way of trying to be polite. It's different when you're on the radio, sure you're on listen again for seven days, but a lot of those types of people are already against you because you're in a boyband and like to get naked on stage. So maybe they were a bit worried that they would get in trouble.

To be fair, I don't think it's lack of intelligence, have these young boys actually had many life experiences on their own since they started out as kids in a boyband? They never seem to have time to do anything, it's an endless round of releasing cd's/albums, touring and promoting as a group. Staying in hotels, getting drunk and being around each other every day, they must be bored witless by now, I'm sure some of their fans are getting sick of the sight of them by now.

McFly would be alright if they didn't just play churned out manufactured by-the-numbers tunes produced by a songwriting team. Sure, some of it will be their own composition, but we all know how these things work by now, right?

To be fair, I think anyone would get sick of being asked questions like that after 4 years. They've never answered them properly. What's the point? They're stupid questions :P They're alright when being asked about their albums etc

Also take into account the bands target audience, they were probably pressured by their record label not to say certain things such as with the question on what the naughtiest thing they've ever done is. And well as the old adage goes, never work with children, no wonder why they were umming and arring, hard to predict what's gonna come out of their mouths. Either way I don't particularly like McFly's music, but I do have respect for them, they have talent for what they do unlike some other pop groups *stares at Girls Aloud* and they seem to be a likeable bunch of lads. Not everyone is a shockingly great interviewee, isn't the music what matters? ...well maybe not in the 21st century...

i dont think they are dense at all!
you cant really say that when they play and write like they do - amazingly!
songs like too close for comfort, not alone, dont know why, walk in the sun, bubble wrap, ill be ok , no worries etc... all amazing like the rest of course most people cant write songs like that!
i htink that and many more examples show that they are not dense at all! certain shows you cant say eveyrhting you would like i dont think it has anything to do woth their target audience - their target audience is alot higher than people would think!

well a matter of fact tom, danny, dougie and harry (mcfly) actually do write every single one of the songs on their albums!!
except for dont stop me now which was asked to put on there by brian may!!!

they are very talented songwriters, and wouldn't you get fed up of answering the same questions over and over and over again????
