If it's a problem when using the scart sockets, Sky, DVD etc, have you tried reconnecting the scart plugs into the TV, DVD or Sky box?

You could try and wiggle each lead and see if the problem appears or dissapears.. this would pinpoint the problem hopefully....

WATCH OUT! DO NOT BUY FROM COMET!! in order to get a replacement or a refund they need to get a technician out to check it, they WILL NOT replace it! Comet is a CON buy from Argos insted, if it has to be repaired i am going to get my money back and say f**k u!

If it's only a few days old then you are legally entitled to a refund (generally up to 28 days) on fualty products (not if you simply change your mind about your purchase)

If you're not happy with the idea of the engineer calling in 2 weeks (or whatever), ask for the TV to be collected for a refund or offer to take it to your local store for an immediate refund.. make sure you have the manual and remote, and box if possible.

Obviously Comet (and others) don't like to take products back and give refunds.. sending out an engineer isn't an unusual proceedure, but I'd agree that after a day of use, I'd want another NEW model or a refund.

If in doubt, contact your local trading standards office for advice on your rights as a consumer.

We called trading standards, comet can do that, tho we can ask for a refund after the tech has come out, Argos take things back no questions asked within 16 days, i should have gone with them

As Orbitalzone says, you are entitled to a replacement or your money back if the set is faulty within a few hours. I work for one of the major manufacturers (not Philips) and we credit or replace anything that fails within 7 days, sometimes longer, assuming the set is still as new, is definitely faulty and has original packing. The unofficial route of creating a fuss in the shop on a busy Saturday is always an option. Be careful about allowing an engineer to look at the set. You can then be deemed to have accepted it and may lose your rights to a refund.

Do a search on COMET on this forum and you will see the fun and games I and other people have had with comet.

Bottom line, you are entitled to a refund under the Sale Of Goods Act.

Do the search and read my other posts on this for more information.
