You can now put Three Pay As You Go sim cards into 2G phones and you will not get cut off by Three. It is as a result of their new roaming deal with Orange, which has given Three roaming charges cheap enough to allow customers to do this (unofficially). So if you use the bundle top up for £25 it gives you 500 minutes and £1.50 credit, although annoyingly it has an expiry of 30 days. You can buy pay as you go sim cards from Three for £10 or less off ebay.

but doesn't the 3 network have 2G/3G capability e.g. if you are outside of 3 network coverage then your handset auto-switches to a 2.5G network (I think 3 use O2 or they used to).
Since this is possible why won't they allow their sim cards in non-3 phones? I have a contract sim from 3, would they block this too? Or is it perhaps because 3 use USIM and most phones still use SIM. |

If it is a pay as you go SIM then yes. If it is a pay monthly sim then they will still cut you off. The K750i is a 2G phone. |
