the headline really should have read something like
people are'nt investigating death or no foul play was involved.

although im happy enough that they skipped ahead.

ee may have holes in its story but the Tracy thing in corrie is actually hilariously bad.

No intention to kill. If there had been, he would have finished the job off there and then

But EE fans always boast that it's the most realistic of soaps.

Yes Martin has been a complete idiot. He was supposed to love Sonia, had just asked her to marry him again, yet he willingly believed without any proof whatsoever that she had killed his mother. He went out of his way to get her locked up and wouldn't listen to her trying to put her side even though he had that phone call from his mum telling him that she was sorry for her behaviour including how she had treated Sonia. It was obvious to anybody with even the smallest of brains that Pauline wouldn't have been nice about Sonia if she had just hit her over the head with a heavy object. Martin is a complete prat and doesn't deserve Sonia. And now that she is back to normal, he is going to find it hard to win her back.

I'm going to miss these two. It's a shame because they still had so much potential and it would have been good to see them as a family unit. They are both very good actors, especially Natalie. I hope they will return in years to come.

I began watching the episode thinking I had missed something as well, as Sonia was sat in the living room, and the paper headline etc. Also Martin is now all of a sudden wanting Sonia to forgive him and maybe get back with him. This after he believed she had killed his mother. The storyline ended in such a wierd way. I was just confused after watching last nights episode!

As one minute Sonia is being taken away after eventually coming back just to hand herself in, and Dot was over at Paulines getting Rebecca's soft toy rabbit and then from no where, Joe arrives and within in minutes confessed to murdering Pauline, Jim arrives to hear Dot and Joe shouting upstairs and goes up and then in the midst of shouting and grabbing on to people, Joe just falls through the window.

It was a sudden end to it all, I think there should have been a few days between Sonia being arrested and Joe arriving back to confess. Joe could of turned up a few days later after hearing she was facing the charge of murder and feeling guilty for what happened on Christmas Day he confesses what happened. It would of seemed more real if that had happened!

Because she wound him up & he lashed out in the heat of the moment - like she'd done to both him & Arthur in the past. He didn't mean to kill her or even seriously hurt her, Not to mention that she didn't seem too bothered by it so it's ridiculous to describe Joe as a murderer. I actually felt really sorry for him & don't blame him for doing it after the way she treated him.

I agree with all the OP's points. I hate the way Pauline's death & its aftermath has been handled.

That's very true because if they were, it would not make good TV.

However fans of EE have always liked to pretend that EE is more realistic.

EE is my fav soap after H&A (!), but im always the first to say when its crap.
In the last two corrie has fallen from the greatness it was, you can't deny that, and i feel pantomine characters like Tracy are the problem.

I too noticed that Martin said something strange yesterday; I think he had managed to grasp what acting is all about. His strangeness wore off after a while and quickly he returned to his normal wooden self.

I think hitting someone over the head with a heavy object is still classed as murder.

Only if the intention is to kill. If you punch someone and they die due to a brain haemorrage it's manslaughter, as you didn't intend to kill them but they died as a direct result of your actions.

I think it's different when you use a weapon, and it has to be proved that you didn't mean to kill. Very difficult when there are no witnesses.
