No point in voting. EastEnders will win everything as normal and none of the other more deserving soaps get a look in.

I remember Tina Baker saying that about 2 years ago! She was one of the panel and she said they made sure Emmerdale and Hollyoaks at least won something, because she considered EE and Corrie would win everything otherwise. Says how worthless these awards are, really! Nothing to do with quality of storyline or acting, just which characters the people who vote like. As usual, not a BEST of anything, just a FAVOURITE of everything! That's why I only rate the NTA's because they don't bother pretending! All their winners are labelled 'Most Popular Actor ' .... Most Popular Actress ... etc. That's ALL the awards are, of course, that cover soaps - what your favourite characters are and what storyline your favourite chgaracters are in, but they persist with the title 'Best ...' as if it's about their acting. Presumably for the ego boost it gives the soap actors!

It's about time Hollyoaks won some stuff as they have been IMO the best over the best few years with issues such as Male domestic violence, the fire at the dog, mandy's post natal depression and then her babies cot death just as she is accepting/loving the baby. Claires manipulation etc.. compared to the os so boring eastenders oh so big and potentially catastrophic revelation that kevin ain't the father which was predictable. Eastenders should not win and does not deserve to win as Corrie, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are far superior.

It was well documented on here, either last year or the year before that EE fans were block voting for it to win best soap.
Gary Bushell even suggested that the Beeb refused permission for EE clips to be shown unless it won best soap. EE hasn't been great for the past few years, and I really doesn't deserve the acolades it gets. |

Ok, the public definatley CAN vote. I just found an old Inside Soap magazine from last year (issue 13) and it says Quote:

Did Family Affairs and Doctors win the awards they've won in the past from the public vote categories? I'd be very surprised if they did.

That makes sense due to the different sizes of Soaps fan bases.
