Im looking to connect( for the first time) my dvd to my new w/s tv via s-video and 2 phonos. This then means that i can connect my new video to sky and then to the RGB scart on the TV.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions where i may purchase one at reasobable cost??

I've had a lot of stuff from www.hifibitz.com
Excellent range, prices, customer service and delivery.
They have a large range of high quality interconnects.

Maplin do the Phillex Thor in an S-Video -> Scart version for £19.99.

www.maplin.co.uk

Type "WN11M" in the search bar at the top.

The Scart -> Scart version of this won 5 Stars in What Hi-Fi.

Try these links to CPC, I use them a lot at work & always find them very good value for money.

You will pay postage though, so it might be worth buying anything else you need from them at the same time.

Scart to S-Video Lead 1

Scart to S-Video Lead 2

Scart to S-Video Lead 3

Scart to S-Video Lead 4

I went down that road the other day when I bought my DVD player - but now wish I'd just gone for a SCART connection. Reason is that with SCART, the DVD player should send a signal to the TV to tell it to auto-switch between 4:3 and W/S depending on the DVD content you're watching. Most W/S TVs have 2 SCARTS - usually 1 is RGB compatible and the other S-Video compatible. If the S-Vid SCART on your TV is going spare and your DVD can output S-Vid on its SCART socket, my advice would be to buy a decent SCART-SCART lead. Hope this is useful to you.

Thanks all! very useful! I've actually discovered i can 'daisy chain' all my equipment starting with dvd>video>digibox>tv.

I also had a new video with the tv, and despite the video manual saying that the second scart does not 'loop through' RGB, the RGB signal still gets to the tv.......so I'm happy. I may invest in a few modest scart leads to see if the quality improves.

That's good. In an ideal world, all kit would have dual loop-through SCART sockets, then you could have, say, and RGB chain and an S-Video chain. Another beauty of SCART is that it is two way in theory you can record up and down the chain. Markd, have you tried taping of the digibox while watching a DVD?

no.but it should work, because you're selecting Scart sockets to record from......in my case Sky would be Scart 1
