The missus was on the EPG, and I overheard one of the adverts that show in the top right corner... It was making quite a big deal about how the programme that is coming soon was filmed in HD for stunning picture quality... Why mention this when HC is SD (and not that brilliant at that)?
Are they hinting that HD is just around the corner? (Mid February?)

I saw that as well.

The advert it self appears to be for "National geographic" On Demand as the female voice over states it is filmed in HD and available now on Nat Geo on demand!

That would suggest that in fact this is not the generic advert used for Sky etc?!?!?!

Odd then that there is a mention of it being filmed in HD?

NTL:Telewest (Virgin Media) have Nat Geo On Demand i think. Could the advert be intended for this service?

I've not seen the advert since, but I think it gave the channel number, which is obviously different from the NTL:TW one...

The standard STB will not support HD. There might be a new box in the spring, but bear in mind that you can only cram so much down a telephone line depending on where you live, and HD needs more data.

See other topic, HD PVR is launching in July. If they used ADSL2+ or the HDD as a cache then bandwidth shouldn't be a problem.
