I can't get YouTube from here.
Does it have Jeff Lynne on vocals? If not it's not ELO. |

It's not bad, sounds like it could fit into the "Discovery" era when they were going very commercial. I loved a lot of their early material; On The Third Day is a brilliant mixture of rock and orchestra. A very underrated band IMO.

In fact it is the extra track included on the remastered thirtieth anniversary version of "Out Of The Blue"
The re-release, completely remastered by Jeff has a couple of work in progress tracks on it. But, it is a measure of the pressure Jeff Lynne was under at the time (he had only four weeks in seclusion in Switzerland) to write the album. And he did it in the last two weeks, writting a track a day. And guess what. The remaster special edition even has the cardboard press out and make spaceship that came with the original album. D |

The new single is now up on UK iTunes, downloaded it earlier. Just do a power search and enter the track title 'Latitude 88 North'. Come on folks lets download it and make this a hit and get ELO back in the charts. 79p is a small price to pay!.

I used to like ELO circa A New World Record and Out Of The Blue, thought they went very commercial on Discovery, very disappointing album for me was that and went off them with that release.
Might get the remastered Out Of The Blue. 30th anniversary?!?! That makes me feel old!

Well, I wouldn't put it up there in their top 20, but it's OK............if that had been on New World Record, it'd be a bit of a filler.............

ELO have to be one of the great underrated bands of all-time. Hardly a duff single released.

Jeff Lynne's music is timeless. ELO's music still sound as fresh today as it did when it came out. The 'TIME' album is a very good example of this.

Yes, I like the new ELO single too. I would suggest the the 1981 album "Time" is probably their masterpiece. I remember getting an import copy on CD in 1988 when it was the only ELO album not to be released on CD in the UK.

ELO were one of my very favourite bands when I was growing up, in fact my VERY FIRST RECORD was "Discovery" (yes, on vinyl --- VINYL? It was a flat, round piece of --- never mind --- you didn't -- it wouldn't fit in a CD --- Look, it was an Album --- Album? Long Player? Oh, I give up!)
After that, I got all their albums (had listened to Mister Blue Sky on Luxembourg very often and then one night they played the whole Out of the Blue album, all the way, without interruptions. Boy was I hooked! I'd say in order, my favourite ELO would be 1) Out of the Blue (no contest!) 2) Discovery 3) Time 4) Eldorado 5) Secret Messages 6) A new world record 7) Zoom 8) Face the music Wasn't blown away by Balance of Power, and not crazy about the older albums (Part 2, The Light shines on etc) Favourite tracks, in order 1) Concerto for a rainy day (I know that's technically four tracks --- Standing in the rain/Big wheels/Summer and lightning/Mister Blue Sky, but I always think of it as one long composition) 2) Don't bring me down 3) One summer dream 4) Poor boy (the Greenwood) 5) Four little diamonds 6) Danger 7) Across the border 8) Turn to stone 9) Telephone line 10) Twilight Probably many others too that I can't recall OTTOMH. Anyone else? TH |

Some of their songs that I really like are: 10538 Overture Mr Radio Ma - Ma - Ma Belle Daybreaker Waterfall One Summer Dream Can't Get It Out Of My Head Livin' Thing Mr Blue Sky Stranger |

'Time' is a masterpiece. Listening to 'Ticket to the Moon' a lot recently. What a fantastic track. My wifes favourite. The more I listen to it the better it gets. Probably one of the best tracks that shows what a fantastic singing voice Jeff Lynne has. The man is a genius.
