does anybody have any experience of the AOL Talk service?
they are offering free evening and weekend calls at the moment with no subscription charge for 12 months (usually 3.99 a month) are their other call charges for peak times, mobiles and international calls ect competitive? would appreciate your views , thanks

AFAIAA, AOL Talk is a CPS (Carrier PreSelect) service (outgoing calls on a BT landline default to AOL). As such, £3.99 is rather expensive (albeit they are offering the carrot of not charging for the first 12 months).
Primus Saver Option 2 CPS gives free evening and weekend UK 01/02 calls for no monthly charge (i.e. not a limited time offer). No lengthy contract tie-in either. With regard to other types of calls, I found it a little worrying that clicking on what was supposed to be a link to 'AOL Talk rate card' further down the AOL Talk page, I was taken, not to a rate card of any sort, but to their home page. In any case, there are a variety of ways of cutting other types of call costs to a minimum - see HERE. Last edited by Heinz : 02-02-2007 at 10:15. |
