Have you ever been flashed?

I read a statistic once that a high percentage of females have been flashed at least once in their lives.

I guess if you get flashed it is a scary experience

I find this quite hard to believe, as the percentage is quite high ( cant remember what it was )

I think it is pretty common. I've been flashed at quite a few times, it's always a bit freaky but was only really frightening when I was completely alone when it happened.

Have been flashed three times, when I was a teenager. Two of those times I think were by the same man. I was walking home, passing some garages just opposite my parents house when a guy came round the corner almost bumping into me with the words 'oh sorry', it took me a second to realise his trousers were a little low. I legged it home, which took all of one minute, told my dad and he went chasing after the guy. Whether he caught him, I don't know.

The 2nd time, same guy, I was in some public toilets in the evening waiting for a friend to er.. finish. I was leaning against the wall looking at the floor when someone came in. I noticed they had trainers on and a long skirt, then I heard 'Oh sorry' (same as the first time) in a deep gruff manly voice. I then realised it was a guy. The guy left immediately but he was outside underneath an arch, skirt hitched up, playing with himself. My friend and I laughed, took the p about how small it was and just told him we were off to the police station, which was literally two mins away. We never went though.

The third time, I'd had a massive argument with my parents and was sitting on an embankment at the edge of a small field having a sly smoke. A pensioner on his bike started to cross the field on a path but he stopped half way. It took me a few minutes before it dawned on me that he wasn't playing with his bicycle pump. Because I was already in a mood my anger was getting to boiling point. He came a little closer and at this point I legged it after him, chasing him on his bike. He was apologising over and over, and seemed to be genuinely crapping himself. Another guy joined in the chase but the old man got away. Dunno what I'd have done with him if I caught him. I'd have been worried about where my hands would go.

my friend and i were flashed when we were about 16 - we were a touch drunk, and being ballsy 16 year olds infused with dutch courage, told the guy that 'nelly obviously forgot to pack her trunk' then we laughed at him very loudly when we sobered up, it wasnt as funny, as we realised what could have happened and reported it to the pilice, and the guy was caught - he'd been flashing a few people, including younger kids, which made it all very UNfunny.

Not a deliberate flash, but exposure all the same ....

An ex and I were cycling on a reasonably busy canal path, and I caught sight of an old guy lurking at the side of a factory as we turned away to go over a bridge. I realised he was playing with himself, and felt quite disturbed. I was glad I was with someone, but I don't think he was there to attack anyone.

The blokes who flash are usually the ones with the least to show off.

Yeah I was flashed at once by a young bloke when I was walking home from school. We were alone in a park and although I wasn't scared at the time, and laughed at him, it could have been a lot worse

I was on a bus on my way home from school in the mid-80s (I was about 14) and was in my school uniform. Where I lived was quite rural and the as the bus emptied, this middle-aged bloke got on and was wearing a long mac. He sat next to me and the next thing I knew he was 'pleasuring' himself under his mac. I didn't actually realise what he was doing at the time and thought he had an itch as it was quite discreet. He finished himself off and then got off at the next stop. It was only when I thought about it later that I realised what had happened. Dirty bu**er!

Another time when I was about 20 I was walking from the cashpoint in town on New Years Eve (not far from the pub I was in). A group of lairy, drunk Scots lads were walking uptown towards me and one who was really peed up had his k*ob out and was shaking it. That was quite amusing and certainly a bit of an eyeful, thinking back on it, but I felt worried at the time. I don't think some men (especially when they're drunk) realise how intimidating it can be.

I supose it depends on your sex as well. Do most men object to being 'flashed' by a woman?

Quite a few times. I've even been in a movie theatre by myself (watching The French Lieutenant's Woman) when a man came in half way through the film sat down next to me, proceeded to unzip his trousers and have a wank.

Someone did that near me and a friend (not next to, thank God) when we were watching the English Patient. Strange choice of films.

In answer to OP, yes, and I don't know many women who haven't, I don't think. Also, there's the men who get it out at parties as a party trick for some reason. I've come across a few of them.

When I was a student, there were some incidents of a man putting his through letter boxes (still attached to his body). He'd put it through, knock, wait to hear footsteps, withdraw and then run off.

Mrs Retro ron here.
Not flashed at exactly, but I was on holiday in Switzerland 9 years ago, and I went for a walk at night with 2 elderly ladies from the coach party. We were walking down some stairs and this guy was walking up, chugging away for all he was worth. One of the ladies saw but the other didn't. When we told her what she had missed her words were "if I had seen, he wouldn't have one left after I whacked him with my handbag". Thank God she never saw. She might just be getting out of prison now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was about six. Bizarrely it was in the middle of a high street on a saturday. My mum said nothing to the man, but I had a lecture about lonely old men who do strange things when we got home.

When I ten I went my mum, brother Auntie and cousin to a local park which was down a quiet secluded lane. As we approached we could see a man leaning against the swings.

It was only as we were nearly upon him that we realised he was stark, bollock naked. My mum and Auntie immedialty turned around and shoved us kids off in the opposite direction. Of course we thought it was hillarious.

I think my mum reported him to the police.

Not by a stranger - a male friend of a friend stop in the middle of the road and RIPPED his underwear off for a laugh.

A lot of my friends have been flashed or followed in the creepy way, and every female I know has suffered some kind of attempted sexual assault.

I *think* I have.... but I'm not sure if it really happened or if it was my imagination. I wasn't entirely "compos mentis" as the time!

Came out of the chippy one night with three of my mates, we were about 14 years old at the time. A man in a minivan called us over, we thought he wanted directions, when we got to the van window he had his trousers round his ankles and was grinning like a cheshire cat. My mate threw her hot mushy peas straight into his meat and two veg and we legged it to the sound of his screams.

Yes when I was only 7 yrs of age coming home from school. Being so young I was terrified. I just ran home screaming because he even started to follow me for a few minutes.

When I got home I told my dad and he went out looking for him.
