Will my Hitachi HDR-160 get the V5.3 OTA?

I have the Hitachi HDR-160 model of this unit.

Been trying to get a V5.3 upgrade all day and it's not finding it OTA.

Is the upgrade for all clones of this model? According to Hitachi UK, Comet have imported this model so I cannot get any support from them.

Will V5.3 be released as a manual upgrade option as I have a problem with lockups when the disk gets fairly full. Hoping V5.3 will resolve?

TIA

I'm not 1000% sure, but i think the update is for the Digihome/Dual version of the machine only, but i could be wrong.

If they are using the hitachi name they are resposible for its warranty and software updates
Who are they kidding its imported they are all imported they dont have a leg to stand on, the machine will only work in the uk using mheg5 as no other country uses this format
If they are not responsible then it must be comet why dont you ask them who is responsible for its warranty and updates or have they sold you a recorder which wont be updated which you could have bought for less under a different brand name and recieved the update.

I'm old enough to remember when I had to drive over 40 miles to my nearest Comet. It was literally a warehouse with a serving hatch.

I'd return to those days tomorrow to get away from today's supercilious, can't-be-bothered individuals who treat you with total contempt when you refuse the extended warantee.

[Ahh, that's better !]
