No I didn't - I am sure I had heard it on the show. It didn't stick.

Because the thread is not about here name, but her ability to communicate her opinions effectively on the show.

I was sharing my feelings that I felt embarrassd for her.

Now, why did you change the topic and if you wanted to post in the thread, why not reply on topic, rather than raising the issue that I don't know her name.

BTW - if I could work out a way to close this thread I would. If anyone knows please say.

Eventually. I'm not going to open up a whole new can of worms on that one.

To answer your question (the differece being I'm answering it first time) I did post on topic, if you look back I think you will find this:

Quote:
“It doesn't help she just gets drowned out by the laughter. She knows what she's talking about, thats why she's on it.”

Now how is that off topic?

If you want this closed, contact DS Forum Support. I am enjoying the debate tbh.

Oh Ok then, I hate to disappoint.

My post was about her ability to communicate, not her ability to judge.
I made that clear.

If you have a can of worms, don't keep them confined.

[Open can of worms] I'm still wondering why you rolled your eyes as if you knew her name, tis all.

I think her english is adequate, not fluent but I can understand her fine. I think I would be able to understand her even better if everyone would show some courtesy and shut up whilst she's speaking. That really irritates me.

How often would you like me to say it - I was talking about her ability to communicate not to judge. I fuly expected to be called on being racist so when I covered my back on that, i get grief for not knowing her flippin name.

You can't win on here.

Yeah it annoys me too. Also I don't think the other presenters seem to be able to communicate with her very well. Natalia knows what she wants to say but they try to rush her etc

As I said before, it shouldn't matter that she may not be the best person with the English language. That shouldn't matter as her points are very valid.

She's a lovely and nice person, which is important. It's good that not all the judges are so 'easy to please' like her, but it's great to have a variety.

Considering she comes from Russia (have you seen the youtube links of the Russian version of Dancing On Ice?) She should know A LOT about skating.

For those of you who haven't seen B&B skate...

One of my favourite routines of theirs.
And she turned out to be quite a beauty. Between Jayne, Karen and Natalia I am a happy girl

I think she speaks quite adequate English considering she's Russian and her mother tongue is Russian. She has a view and does her best to put it across, and it is valid! Have you noticed, Philip always seems to rush her in the skate-off? She doesn't really linger that long I don't think....

Although she comes across as a really nice person and I respect her knowledge and achievements the main problem I have with her so far is that she doesn't seem to offer much in the way of technical insights. The constructive criticism on the show always appears to come from Robin and (to be fair to him) Jason and, to a lesser extent Nicky.

All Natalia seems to say is 'it's about the performance/expressing your feelings and you gave us that' or some variation on the theme. And let's face it, we already have Karen for the cute and fluffy non-confrontational stuff...

O.K here it is

Natalia Bestemianova skated with Andrei Bukhin and partnered him to ice dance olympic gold in 1988 as well as countless silver medals behind Chris & Jayne.

I didn't like B & B as a partnership but Natalia makes valid points it is just a shame the patronising Holly Willoughby asks more questions of the other judges.

Enough is enough let's stop bashing Natalia

The English seem to think that anybody who doesn't speak their language as well as them are stupid. I'd like to know how many languages the OP is fluent in before he criticises the language skills of others. I understand her perfectly well, people need to have some patience, like foreigners do with you when you go abroad.

Too right Tarq.

I've got no problems with Natalia's english

She's not there to communicate about the nice things in life, she's there to judge a competition and the elements reguired and she does that pretty well. Go to the streets of Moscow and ask the directions in Russian!! How are you going to fare, badly, however, the person directing you to the right direction will be able to speak better English than your Russian. Reflect on your post

Nor me, the only problems i have is with the people who laugh and talk over her when she's trying to get her point across

Some newspaper columnist last week asked was she talking about Ulrika when she said "the stan-tart is good"?
