Looking for one of those prefix services (ones you don't sign up to, just dial and get their rates).

To ring a friend who is out in Spain and has a mobile phone.

There's usally offers going on.. anyone know any?

Assuming you mean your friend has a Spanish mobile, there's a thread dedicated to 07744 gateway numbers on the NiftyList forums. If you have a contract mobile with free cross-network minutes yourself, you should be able to find some numbers so you can call for nothing.

If you have to call from a BT landline, there are a number of 0844 gateway providers too. Here are a few:
