It would be interesting. Her training would undoubtedly give her a huge advantage (Arlene does keep recommending the female celebs take a few ballet lssons to learn about hand, arms and musical expression), but the amount of turnout in a ballet dancers hips would make ballroom technique difficult.

I'm with the other poster who suggested that she might have been approached with a view to judging rather than dancing.

On the topic of Darcey I don't think she'd have such an easy journey. When you've been taught to do something a certain way for 30 years it may not be as easy to correct as it sounds. It would be very interesting to see how she would cope with the transistion and if she's good then we may actually see some great dances. In my opinion now one has matched Jill's standard yet and if Darcey was good we may see that. I don't think she'd be put with Darren or Vincent, she'd have to have a taller guy so who depending who's coming back it could be Mr Cutler or Mr Waite...

I see your point nikie but can the judges be trusted not to turn into gushing Darcey fans? I think not

Also as many others have said she would have such huge advantages over the others on finishing lines and a natural ability to dance.

Part of the appeal is seeing for example Lilia teaching Matt his hands (which is great for her and Matt) and Mark finally conquering ballroom after struggling

I can't imagine she would feel the same sense of acheivment, not sure she would have a right to judge either if she is not specialised in the dances these pros do.

That would be a problem trusting the judges, but I think the Beeb would have learnt their lesson now. Well hope anyway.
I agree she'd have an advantage of rhythm, routines and that kinda thing.
I think it would be interesting to have her on the show. It would be interesting to see how she reacts to the different dances.

Cannot see this happening. There was enough hoo-hah this series just gone with people saying that various contestants had unfair advantages because they went to theatre school.

Do you think that being principal ballerina with the Royal Ballet might be seen as a slight advantage over say a rugby player or a weatherman? Maybe??

I really hope it doesn't happen!

Daft as the beeb can be can't see them doing it either, assuming they will stick with the winning forumla of retired sportsmen, chefs and EE & medical drama actresses!

Possibly... I can see your point. I think that she would be a great asset to the show, just because she's ballet trained doesn't mean she will be fantastic in Ballroom. The BBC always get one with either stage-school or dance experience so maybe they're thinking Darcey could be a winning formula? Only time will tell as this is only a rumour isn't it?

According to the Daily Mail today, Darcey and Katherine Jenkins will be starring in a show called "I Owe It All To You" which will be beginning in November and going across the UK.

So we can definitely count her out of SCD5
