Trivial but I prefer White Skating Boots on the ladies

I know it is a trivial thread but I really much prefer watching the ladies if they are wearing White Boots rather than thel over-boot tights - I know it is personal preference and probably the idea of the over-boot tights is to give a nice uninterrupted line - do other people have any thoughts on this - maybe I am just an old fashioned girl.

Bonnie and Kristina always wear the over-boot tights and I noticed that Gaynor started wearing them towards the end of the competition last year. This year I think all the celebrities are currently showing the white boots and I think Jayne always does too.

Sorry must get on and do some work now !!

Me too!

The thickness of those brown tights remind me of granny support tights. I think they're really ugly - and distracting!

The white boots look so much better.

yes i think the flesh coloured boots are awful: white is far more appealing;

I'm for the white boots - they look much more elegant.

I think those thick, flesh coloured tights make them look like orthopaedic boots!

I don't mind the beige or orange coloured boots - its just those tights over the boots that put me off.

I am lucky enough to own a pair of white boots (bought many years ago) and eventhough I can only skate forwards and backwards I feel like a true pro in them - only trouble is many people expect me to be able to do a triple salchow when I wear them !!

I remember years ago when I used to watch the skating tournaments, I always preferred the white boots as well!

They are more elegant and much fresher-looking than the tan boots or the tights-worn-over-boots!

I totally agree! So pleased not to be the only one. I think it comes from learning to skate in horrible blue plastic skates and desperately wanting a pretty pair of white skates.

White boots rock! I don't like the black ones, or the weird fleshy ones.

The boots are OK if you have long legs but if you are short the shorten your leg legnth whereas one unbroken colour makes the legs look longer.

Definatly. The white boots are prettier and more elegant.

I had white skates when I was a kid and felt like a proper figure skater in them. Even though I could only go forwards

I like the white boots or the colourful ones (like Melanie's orange ones)...the flesh-coloured ones make me spend a lot of time wondering if they've got a bandage on their foot!

the flesh coloured ones look like there's skates growing out theire feet

Ulrika managed to pull hers up right to the top of her neck!

I'm glad lots of other people seem to agree with me on this

Being very shallow many's the time I've thought 'Oooh, thats a good outfit, great pair of legs and...ugh...a pair of hooves on the end! ' Kristina being a regular offender.

As a non-skater does anyone know if there's any technical advantage to having the tights over the boots? In terms of aesthetics it's about as attractive as tights with open-toed sandals

And over her face as well or had she already done that? She hasn't aged very well, has she, poor cow?

Think that's why I much prefer them too.
I still long to own a pair of "white boots" 30 years since I first went to an ice rink!
Would it be very silly just to buy a pair to look at?

I don't actually think the tights look too bad, it depends what the skater is wearing cause sometimes white totally clashes with the outfit! I like the white boots as well though..
I must join this ''wanting pretty white ice skates club''

I have to say I always wanted a new pair or white boots. I used to skate as a child and my mum used to teach ice skating, but she was very frugal and we never had new boots and skates, always second hand ones and they were so tatty that when we put new skates on the boots we had to plug the holes with matchsticks to hold the skates on. Quite often the screws would work their way loose and the skates would fall off. I used to look longingly in the display case where the new boots were and I always thought my skating would improve dramatically if I owned some. By the time I was old enough to afford them myself I'd given up skating....hohum, maybe I should just buy a pair and just look at them like emmeline
