Trivial but I prefer White Skating Boots on the ladies

After much deliberating on this subject, I have decided that I too prefer the white boots on the female skaters as opposed to boots with tan coloured tights over the top.
I particularly liked Clare's look this week - white boots with black glittery leg warmers - fabulous!

To be honest that's pretty much all I do with mine now. Although I do still remember trying them on for the first time at the rink and thinking how I would never have to wear horrible hire skates ever again! Those boots were so well looked after, they still look brand new now. (Although that may say more about my skating ability than my care)

The only thing is, wearing white skates seems to indicate to everyone that you know how to skate and they should watch you until you do something amazing. One time I forgot to take the guards off my skates and stepped onto the ice still wearing them. I had no chance of staying upright with the blades covered in plastic. I was picked up by the beginners who where clutching the sides, boy did I feel an idiot.

Great story c-dub

At least you were brave enough to go on the ice. I've never been to an ice rink in my life - too afraid of hurting myself!

Yes I have a pair of white skates that I bought many many years ago and I know exactly what you mean - people EXPECT you to be able to do a double axle at the very least - when you fall over it is sooooooooo embarrassing - still wouldn't swop them for the hire skates.........

It is great fun but can be scary with all the youngsters whizzing around - if you can go during the day during school time it is usually quieter and more user-friendly.
Great work-out - boy do your feet and calf muscles know they have been thru some exercise.

I have a pair of white... roller boots! The local rink has long since gone and they've been sitting on top of my wardrobe for about 18 years, but I cannot bring myself to part with them!

My OH said this and I have to totally agree. Think the tights over the boots just look weird, kind of like a giant foot.

I'm not a regular viewer of this programme, but did watch the repeat last Sunday, and saw these flesh-coloured tights over the boot. Is there a reason for it, (like they want to keep out the cold), or is it just a fad?

White boots should be mandatory in judged events as it is harder to disguise poor foot and leg posture.

On a slightly different note, but this is the nearest thread for my question...
... Is it possible for them to go to the loo after they have their costumes on? To me, it looks like the whole costume is sewn on a body stocking and once in it, you stay in it.
Mind you, after seeing Claire upside down, standing on her head, legs splayed and gusset stretched to capacity, Thank God if it was a leotard/body stocking.

On the DOI DVD Bonnie says she has to ask someone to unzip her if she needs the loo

Maybe drinks/food is banned once they are installed in their costumes !!
