I suppose! Why not get one MP3 that does all of that?

It's the storage space...

/looks at size of folder imaginatively titled "MP3" on the PC...
Size: 104 GB
24,239 files
1,179 folders

How long would that take to rip the CDs again (in excess of six hundred!)?

A hard disk based MP3 wouldn't do it justice.

Still got a sony Erickson T610, amazing and popular phone, many people still own one even now. I used to have a 3310 but it died, I was a bit upset because it was a simple phone just what I needed.

I still have a Motorola C520 which is a bit of a brick but it started playing up, sad really because it's perfect for my parents who like the big buttons. They are using one of my old nokia's for now.

Me, i've never owned a Nokia in my life and just find them annoying tbh.

Oh and I forgot - only Cellnet had any coverage (and that was patchy at best) between Preston and Leyland - which meant most of us couldn't use them for most of the journey either! Ah the good old Motorola M3788 and it's ability to use 4 AA Cells as a backup (which would last a hour (standby) at best)

My speaker isn't that loud, I don't know what they do to them! I use headphones anyway.
They seem to actually be doing the opposite of the signs - I've seen more chavs using them since the signs went up (sometime after xmas) than since I moved to Nottingham the best part of seven years ago. I use the headphones on mine - I think we need to retaliate and start banging Saga 106.6 out of the speakers of our phones

Mind you - I've also seen old people from Bridgford listening to Radio 4 LW on speaker radios before - then they have the nerve to whinge at the kids banging out Hip Hop a few weeks later

As for old phones - the Sony J70e is still my old faithful backup handset - it's weird putting my T-Mobile SIM card in and seeing "One2One" though. If a phone has a colour screen and/or knows about 02 or T-Mobile it can't be called retro!

6/82, you're 19 months older than me, that could make the difference.

Yeah I might blast some Bach, Handel or Mozart out on mine, would shock the chavs at worst, and at best get them off the bus... lol

I have my trusty old Nokia 3210 (with Capt Picard fascia no less) as my backup backup phone. It still works perfectly, too. And I have a Nokia 7210 as my backup phone. Tis a decent little thing but isn't any good for gaming really.

My current phone is a SE K750i which is my best phone by far - so far.

In use in my family are the classic Motorola M3788e and Sony J5. I'd still have my original Motorola StarTAC if I hadn't lost it - losing phones is the only reason I change the damn things.

Sorry but why would you want to lug about a brick in your jacket pocket?

Give me smaller, faster, brighter, smarter ANY day over 'kitsch' or 'retro' - I mean what IS that anyway apart from people who are so pretentious they sit there and go 'Oh I'm so individual and so witty and ironic - look at my enourmous phone which is ugly and potentially a lethal weapon in the hands of some!'

Get over yourselves! Buy HIGH-TECH!

The Sony J70 from 2001/2002 is no bigger than the Ericsson K800i - okay it may be taller, but it's thinner and narrower!

Retro != Brick

3310 is not a brick. Some people don't want or need a cam and bluetooth and mp3 etc etc. If you don't like the old phones fine but some of us do.

Had loads of nokias 5110,3310,3330,3410,3510,6610,7210,6600 and now onto the nokia n70. The 5110 was a great phone in its time and so was the 3310. I might buy one again and have it as a spare.

Haha changeable covers that was 'THE THING' back in the day Personally I think older phones are more reliable then most of the ones now. I never used to hear about buggy software, poor memory and stuff like that

I have had my PAYG 3310 since it came out, and find it indestuctable. Mine also has the bonus of 5 free texts a day for the life of my simcard. As a tightwad who is a low user it has been 3 years since i have had to put credit on. Bargain

The only oldish phone Id use nowadays is a moto V50 or the V3968 black, apart from a colour screen and bluetooth, cameras and other gadgets on phones are cack or not needed.

Just "upgraded" my 5210 for my sisters 8310 complete with radio and Snowboarding! Way cool.

As someone who pays about £2pm on Virgin PAYG DD it does me, would like a camera phone though, maybe if I could get a SE750i v. cheap
