I bought a pioneer dvr545 to go with my pioneer plasma.
Eventually got the dvr set up,plasma manual and dvr manual do not give much help about joining both together.
All workrd fine except sky digital will only shoe 4.3 format when going through dvr.checked all settings etc and finally had to call pioneer techical.i was told that the dvr will not show widescreen as the two are not compatable.the guy said that the way pioneer use the scart wiring is different from sky digital boxes.as anyone else heard of this.

When the DVR is in standby, i.e. switched off, is it OK then and only goes into 4:3 when the DVR is switcehd on?

If so, then press the button on your remote control labelled TV/DVD. That should sort it!

This sounds similar to the problem I've currently got. About a week ago I noticed that Sky programs I was watching via the DVR came up in 4:3 whereas they used to change aspect ratio as and when. Got a call into Pionner but they haven't seen the problem before. Tyro, have you tried plugging your SCART cable into the 2nd SCART on the sky box as this still works on my Pace Sky box (check it's setup for 16:9 under picture settings).

Chris, is yours still swapping aspects and recording in 16:9? Am about 80% sure it's the Pace at fault in my case but it always possible Sky isn't transmitting the WS signal correctly.

Yes, I don't seem to be having any problems. I recorded Question Time last night and it's playing back in 16:9 perfectly.

Press your TV/DVD button as suggested above, also check out the reply on your other thread.

Pressed the TV/DVD button but it doesn't help as I get a blue screen. I've got Sky connected to the DVR then DVR to TV. 2nd SCART on my Sky box is connected to a TV in another room so cannot so pressing TV/DVD doesn't give me Sky to TV signal.

The TV/DVD button should not give you a blue screen - are you pressing the right one? I meant the one on your Pioneer remote control. What this button does is pass though widescreen signals correctly when the DVR is out of standby.

Hi Chris, pressing the TV/DVD flips me over to TV channel 0. Have no terrestrial aerial so it shows a blue screen. If I press Ext.1 on the TV remote I see what is coming in via the DVR.

Thought I'd cracked it last night by swapping over the scart port on the back of my Pace box. TV was flipping screen sizes depending on the channel I flipped to but this morning it's back to 4:3 and I haven't changed anything back.

Gonna have another go tonight, suspect there is a switch on order I have to go through to get this to work properly.

Is there such a thing as a one feed in two out SCART splitter? All the splitters I can find seem to take two or more feeds in and give one out.

Tyro. You still around? Have you tried the 2nd SCART port on your Sky box?

See http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=538590 for a recent discussion on 1 in/2 out switches.

Or if it's a distribution amplifier you want, try http://www.lektropacks.com/view_item...6&&category=17

Does your problem only occur when your DVR is not in standby? And have you got a spare SCART cable that you can swap the existing one with? If it was working last night and not working this morning and you haven't touched anything, it does point towards faulty equipment somewhere along the line - it could be the TV, the DVR, the Sky box, or the cables between them.

The TV doesn't change aspect so it's can't tell. I've got a spare SCART lead so I'll have another play tomorrow (busy fighting off this bug that's around at the moment)

Glad we're narrowing it down then!

Right, cracked it (I think). After much fannying about taking SCART cables apart, swapping them round, nicking spares of 2nd TV, quintuply checking the setting on everything I got fed up and unplugged the DVR.... Plugged it back in and the aspect is behaving itself (when the DVR is on and off). Hard to believe I used to be a comuter engineer and lived by K.I.S.S.

Now I thnk about it we had several power cuts one night a couple of week ago which was probably about the time this all started. So If you notice your aspect not changing or recordings not happening in the correct aspect do a hard power cycle ie. unplug the unit. I need a beer after all that
