Cannot eject disc from Panasonic DMR-HS2

I have a DVD-RAM disc stuck in my Panasonic DMR-HS2 after the machine took exception to a DVD-RAM disc during dubbing. I had the U99 error message and now I cannot eject the disc.

I've tried unplugging the machine from the mains and each time it boots it goes into recover mode and I cannot eject the disc.

I've tried holding the channel up and stop buttons to force the ejection of the disc which has been recommended on here for other models, but it doesn't seem to work for the DMR-HS2.

Can anyone help me eject the disc?

Thanks

Just a long shot which I doubt applies to you... but on this model the tray will not open if JPEGs are being played or an editing screen is being displayed.

Also, as I remember, the machine must be off when you try the channel up / stop button / 5 seconds routine.... and it will not work if child lock is engaged - which must be disengaged first.

I know this sounds scary, even dangerous, but I have done it before. You need to get a narrow blade (fork, knife, something like that and GENTLY insert it between the disc tray and the machine itself and again VERY GENTLY push outwards. Don't force it, but it should give slightly and once it does the automatic opening mechanism should push the tray back out, and you can get your disc out.
Try it and let me know, but do be VERY CAREFUL. It may take a little time and coaxing, but it should work.
Good luck!

Thanks for the replies.

I've managed to get the disc out by manually triggering the automatic opening mechanism as advised above.

Phew! What a relief!
