Eastenders overlooked at awards!!!!
lala
28-02-2003
EastEnders has failed to gain a nomination in this year's Royal Television Society Awards.

The BBC Daytime series Doctors and ITV's Emmerdale and Coronation Street will battle it out for the Best Soap award.

This must be the final nail in the coffin for eastnders. I have to say i am not surprised at all, Eastenders has been pretty dreadfull the last couple of weeks anyways. And last night episode wasn't any help either. It was terrible.

This just goes to its the quality that counts not the quantity. I say easetenders needs a new producer and some good writers with an imagenation to get the soap back on top form. Louise Berridge the executive producer of ee, is one of the worst producers i have ever come across. I doudt when she leaves ee she will get offered a higher job.

I doudt the 'what happend to Lisa' saga will help ee. Though they might be good because they are produced by John Yorke, former ee executive producer.

We should have a 'Bring Back John Yorke' Campaign.
Since he left the quality of the show has gone down-hill fast.
I mean come on, 4 exits, Robbie, Nita, Anish, Mark, (without deaths) in the space of a week. Oh and if you count Martine Folwer its 5 exits!!!!

I know........... all we'll be left with is the Slaters soon

It's about time they livened things up a bit with some good meaty storylines and some suspense. at the moment you could miss a couple of weeks episodes and comeback and nothing would have changed........ a bit like when Bobby appeared in the shower (Dallas)

"Final nail in the coffin". Don't you think that's over-stating the case??

Some people seem to have the memory of a goldfish and can't cast their minds back more than a few weeks. IMHO the EE Christmas episodes were excellent and Corrie has only had one interesting plotline in the past year (the one that has got everyone talking now).

EastEnders will be back on form later this year, mark my words.

It was not very realsitic when martin pleaded guilty to causing death by reckless driving. Any average solicitor would have told him to plead guilty to careless driving and the court woulkd have accepted it.

I know someone died but at the end of the day his drving was careless and not reckless. The accident was caused by a momentary lack of due care and attention at a low speed.

They do need to get the stories accurate.

Sorry if you took offence at my poor choice of phrase - it wasn't aimed at anyone in particular (and certainly not at lala who started this thread and mentioned about recent storylines being poor).

I agree that they have been, but there seems to have been a lot of negativity about EE lately which seems to overlook some of the good things it has done in the past 3 months - the Christmas episodes and Mark's leaving scenes being among them. And I think there are some interesting developments in the pipeline, so I wouldn't write it off just yet.

Btw, thank you for extending me such a warm welcome to this board.

No, I agree with you. In the past there has been some cracking stuff, and I'm sure there will be again. We have Laura's baby to come yet ... Kat's return and her relationship with Alfie ... And there must be some new characters coming in to replace the ones they've got rid of.

I think Eastenders are a little short for story lines:

"Eastenders plans own Richard Hillman" ...
