SCD had no choice but to have 2 in the final unless they had shortened the series by a week or had a week with no exit .
Brendan and Craig were still talking about 3 in the final as close as 4 weeks prior to Dec 23rd .
I am afraid the producers or whoever is ultimately responsible ,are to blame for the excessive pressure put on the finalists by 5 dances to fill the time slot .
I concur with others , It was by far the best final of all 4 so far .The standard of dancing was exceptional : the VW was quite beautiful . I agree it was a test of stamina .Louisa may well have not coped and Emma was pregnant and for me ,Darren had given up by the semi , their salsa was poor .They didn't deserve to be in the final .
Whatever we all think of who won or the final etc and there are obviously partisan feelings still (BTW as much as I preferred Mark's dancing to everyone else's ,I would have loved to see Mark and Louisa and whoever else in the final ,she did deserve it .) there is no excuse for R and J's dismissal of Mark and Matt and neither for their very biased interviewing of Emma .
Emma seems to be on or in everything at the moment . She was in the Mail on Sunday Live mag .The reporter noted she brought 2 PR agents , 2 stylists and her own Make up artist to the interview and photo shoot , they made sure she had fresh sandwiches etc .How did she cope on SCD having to share the BBC facilities?According to a post on another thread , she is in touch with no one from SCD though others remain in close contact .I also had no idea she had a fortune of £15m, I should have realised I suppose .

I for one agree with Richard and Jude. I thought Emma should have won.

I thought Matt was a genuine and gracious runner up. Emma was not a runner up and has seemed less than gracious in her comments on R and J, which will not endear her to the many people who voted for the finalists.

And of course Judy is an expert on dancing, calling the final tedious.

Had a commentary while it was on, as going out, but didn't miss much it seems.

Both sportsmen were superb and classy finalists who were both fantastic. They thoroughly entertained 12million people and don't deserve such nasty whinges. It was a terrific final from both of them.

It's 2 months ago, get over it. She did a terrible salsa and deserved to go.

As for Madely...oh God I dread it on one hand but on the other hope he gets the smug smile wiped off his face in the first show.

Madeley made a tit of himself as usual by asking Emma if she ever got turned on by dances. Cringeworthy stuff.
What a cheek from Judy, where does she get off. I was very pleased we got two sportsmen in the final. Who does she want in finals, soap stars I shouldn't wonder with pop singers

Stop being so narrow minded Judy and grow up

Nobody seemed to mind that there were two sportsmen in the final last year. OK there was Zoe as well, but without Jimmy dropping out, Emma or Louisa would have been in the final this year too.

Richard and Judy need to take a good look at their interviewing style. I haven't watched them since they did the most sycophantic and saccharine interview with Jennifer Aniston last year. Even Jennifer looked a bit embarrassed - and she's an American, she must be used to their high schmaltz levels.

How can Judy say the final was tedious if she didn't watch it? Doesn't make sense - but she rarely does.

Arddunol, I don't know which thread you were referring to, but as I know some of the people involved with the show, I can categorically state that Emma is still in touch with two of the professional dancers to my certain knowledge, and four of the celebrities. To try and make out she is anti-social and not keeping in touch as others are is extremely unfair of whoever posted that as well as being untrue. Also, anyone who remotely knows Darren would know that he does not "give up" and certainly not when he has got to the semi-final. That is rather a slur on his professionalism, which I don't think is at all deserved.

I actually preferred the finals of both Series two and three where there were three finalists, and I do think last year would have been better with one of the female contestants in it to be honest, for more variety. I also didn't care for the judges choice section, to be frank, but that is purely a personal opinion.

Having said all that, I loath and detest Richard and Judy, particularly Richard, who is a useless interviewer at the best of times and usually manages to be a complete prat as well as embarassing and incompetent. I rarely watch the programme unless at someone else's house, and usually I cringe waiting for his next faux pas, and counting the seconds til it finishes!

Does it really matter if R&J happened to want Emma in the final - it was all done and dusted months ago, they're just stating their opinions. So Judy thought the final would be tedious - perhaps Emma and Louisa were her favourites, in which case no wonder she didn't feel that bothered about watching. I remember a lot of people on here were vowing not to watch the final if Mark didn't make it, it's all swings and roundabouts.

Also, R&J were hardly going to be saying Mark was their fave and telling Emma she shouldn't have won when she was their guest - it would have been a bit odd and unnecessary. As for Emma nodding, goodness, she was probably just nodding to indicate she was listening, I do that all the time.

Yes, but there are ways and ways to interview and talk about the programme. They could obviously say it must have been fun dancing in SCD and that she had done very well without laying all that guff on with a trowel.

They are both useless interviewers and Richard is horrible - he used to beOK on This Morning but since they went to Channel 4 he has got too big for his boots.

I was merely citing something I read on one of the threads .I have no idea what was specifically meant by the statement . Maybe I misread it .
I wouldn't have any idea if Emma was antisocial and certainly wasn't implying that .
I also have no idea if others , except Mark and Karen are keeping in touch .
I did feel Darren was not his usual self in the semi final at all , via the TV that is what came across to me , it felt as if he was resigned to not being in the final. I have watched Darren in all 3 series and I thought he was excellent with Jill, even though I was and still am , a great fan of Aled Jones , and I think he was wonderful with Gloria last year and extremely professional in every way ,He worked hard to make her feel comfortable and to get the best out of her .
I certainly don't think he was unprofessional this year , but and I am allowed an opinion even if I don't personally know him , I felt there was something wrong in the semi .It was not the Darren I have seen before . I can't put my finger on it ,but he wasn't dancing as he usually does with real passion and enjoyment . I don't remotely know Darren and I wasn't casting any slur .
I think most of us would have preferred 3 in the final and at least one lady . That was the fault of the BBC and a result of Jimmy leaving and there being no contingency plans .

On teh point of dancers and celebrities keeping in touch , I doubt for most it is a long term thing unless the connection and friendship was particulrly strong .

I know that Aled did have at least one lesson with Lilia after SCD was over but to the best of my Knowledge work commitments prevented any more .He doesn't mention her much now .

I think I agree with Judy about the final. I much preferred the series 2 and 3 finals with three competing couples, and partl perhaps because there were also female celebs involved, which does add a different quality to the dancing. Also, I do think it was a little boring to have two sportsmen in the final two yet again! Especially as I do not think they were necessarily the best overall. Even so, next year after two finals with two sportsmen, it would be a nice change to have some different types in there. Evidently sportsmen (even from the most "macho" sports) can learn to dance well, so I jsut want people to get over it, and concentrate more on actual ability and talent rather than the celebs' backgrounds.
