Lloyd and his return to the street.
What do people think about him returning and there being no explanation as to his absence for the last few months?

It is a bit strange, but he was never a main character and his leave would never have been as noticeable as say a character like Steves would be

Thats like saying Vera will be in an episode in a couple of weeks. Do you class that as a spoiler since she hasn't been in it much recently Last edited by JPS Corrie King : 09-02-2007 at 01:13. |

A lot of people didn't like Lloyd when he started, but I think he's excellent, especially his banter with Steve.

I like Craig Charles and I like his character in the Street but I think the writers have handled his suspension incorrectly. He should have been reintroduced gradually. The fact that he is in nearly every scene in the pub and cab office only highlights the fact that he hasn't been around for a while.

All they had to say was "Lloyd's gone to visit family for a bit"

They didn't need to explain it because there are a lot of characters in Corrie that can be out for ages and it doesn't matter, you just assume they're getting on with their lives and nothing interesting is happening.

That's why throwing him into so many scenes straightaway highlighted the fact he hadn't been seen for a while. |

I thought it was really wierd. He just appeared as if he had never gone anywhere.
Weren't him and steve arguing last time we saw them over kelly? |

it really wasnt that weird..
sally vainised for seven months without any explanation while on maternity leave for four or five years ago... the only real difference was that beacuse the actor was on suspension and unsure ground he wasnt mentioned... im glad he's back as i like his caracter...

It was wierd as he was all of a sudden back in the rovers and street cars talking to Steve, as if he had never been anywhere. But I think it worked, as you don't always see all the characters all the time, sometimes not for a few weeks depending on the storylines currently going on. It is good having him back though- great scenes with Steve lately.

^ But this happens to a number of characters. They disappear for months and appear again. We have to get used to not seeing all the characters all the time, the only difference is that the actor was forced to leave in this case.

The thing about Lloyd is that he wasn't even mentioned, whereas other characters usually get a passing mention when absent.
I mean, Steve bought the pub - where was Lloyd? Might not he have been interested in joining in with him? Kelly gets told off for what she wears by Liam - not so much a mention of Lloyd. There have been lots of points where they could have mentioned him in passing but the way they handled it was incredibly sloppy - it's as if for 6 months we were in an alternate universe where he had never existed and now we've slipped back. |

Because he was suspended, they could write in an exit but there's no excuse for not giving a reason for his absence at the first opportunity.

2). I think I know who I am, and have been from the start, talking about, and I don't need you to tell me that I don't. Last edited by Soapsaddict : 10-03-2007 at 21:10. |
