I know they receive a salary but surely there must be some extra monetary reward for getting thru each week ?

Anyone know ?

I'm not sure, although I remember on "Just the Two of us" when John Bardon got knocked out he said to Vernon "Don't worry, it's all the same wages"

I would guess all they get from ITV would be the fees for appearing. Its one off fees, rather than pay-per-week sorta thing.

I hate to be cynical, but maybe thats why Steven wasn't too bothered. He got paid either way after all.

I don't think that creates a very good working ethos from the celebs. Let's be honest by about half way into the comp' most of them will have an inkling of whether they have any chance of getting to the final. If they get paid the same no matter what, why bother training for weeks on end, hardly seeing your family, putting yourself at physical risk when you have n't a hope in hell of winning?
It's the same on SCD, I often wonder especially when it gets close to Xmas whether some of the "middle of the road" celebs just think it's easier to be knocked out half way than just before the semi's. They've raised their profile enough, they ain't gonna' win so they "loose" their enthusiasm so to speak.
Just my opinion .

As I said, its just a guess. I agree with all that you have said above.
