How does the voting system work?

I'm quite confused because itv have never said (to my knowledge) how the voting system works in detail... is it like scd where they basically add the judge's votes and viewers vote together, the only difference being that there is a skate off after this?

or do they only count the viewers vote, and then have the skate off (like the x factor)

if it is the first method, i dont get what the point of having the skate off is, as they have already combined both the judges and viewers votes??

can anyone please tell me what the voting process works in detail?

Well as far as I'm aware, obviously the leaderboard is made up solely of the judges' scores and when it comes to the skateoff, the judges' scores are combined with the viewers' votes to place the couples

so what is the point of having a skate-off, as the judges have already made their input into the voting process. is it just for entertainment?

The judges continue their input to decide between the bottom two :]

It gives the judges the chance to save the better skater (in their opinion) of the bottom 2 couples.... who may otherwise have gone.

However - it did mean that we got Bonnie in the final last time - as they saved her 3 times even though she clearly was not the public's choice.

If they had had any input into the final results - she'd have won as they had her at the top of the leaderboard - however as they didn't have a skate off for the final final, the public got the 2 finalists they wanted!
