as per the title is it possable to get a 32" LCD HD ready TV for £500 (give or take). My TV died over the weekend and I am looking to replace it, I was just going to get a basic CRT but there are very few of them about now

So I have looked at a few LCDs and I like the idea of been able to hook up my PC to play HD video on the screen.

Wow, I wasnt expecting much from this post, but from the looks of thing I should be able to get a HD LCD 32" for £500, that AOC seem to get a good read up on the first few pages of the AVforum (Great place as well), I need to have a good read through of that but it seems a great deal.

Thanx, I am going to surriously look into some LCDs now as I should be able to get one in my budget.

Try and check their picture quality against the more expensive sets - the difference is usually HUGE!.

That doesn't sound very likely!, and it looks nothing like a Sony, and nor does the spec!.

Is this one of those "its made in the same factory, so it must be the same telly" situations?

I would have thought it's more likely he's either 'having you on', or doesn't have a clue what he's on about!.

You say he works for Sony, what does he do?.

After some hunting today I have started to come up with an ever grewing lists of TVs that I like the look of, sadly I have little knowledge on anything LCD related but I am learning as I go along (slowly).

Most of these are over the £500 I wanted but they do all come under £600, I wondered if anyone had any opinions on these screens (and the retailers if possible), I am still searching for more screens but wondered which area I should go for, the cheap sets look appealing from a price point of view but for slightly more than my original £500 I start to be able to get a more known brand.

Thanx for any help, buying an LCD seems a minefield for those not in the know.

Forget the unbranded stuff.

I'd look at the Samsung (R74), Panny, or Tosh.

I am working loads of overtime to save up for a new TV, and I went to the Direct TV website and saw the 50inch Plasma. I will no doubt start a thread when I have the money

I own a Toshiba 32WL66 and i think that it is an excellent television. I bought the 26inch model first but then I swapped it for the 32 inch model because i kept on reading on these forums that 32 inch was the best size for a living room unless you had a really small room. Reading all that persuaded me to go for the bigger set.

I got mine from John Lewis and it came with the 5 year guarantee. John Lewis do price matching which is good and they will match any High store price and plus you will get the free extended warranty on top as well.

This telly has had it price slashed in some stores as a newer Toshiba 32WLT68 replaced it but some of the reviews for the newer sets haven't been as good as the WL66 got.

It is a very good television the 32WL66 which i would recommend.

Just a correction i own the Toshiba 32WLT66 which comes with the built in digital tuner.

The Toshiba 32WL66 is basically the same television i believe but it does not come with the built in digital tuner i believe so you will not get the free freeview channels.
